Now, don't immediately go and say your favorite game, this isn't about that. This is what game you think describes what the saturn is. I do hope that this makes sense, it does to me.
For example, my pick would be Bug!, since it as underrated gem that has some interesting things going for it, just like the saturn. I'm curious to see what other people think

I'm gonna say the jurassic park the lost world. Like the saturn the game can be great if you just give it a chance and also it isn't liked by everyone. Also nights and sonic r come to mind for their individuality and great graphics and music

I'd have to say Virtua Fighter. If anybody mentions the Saturn it's the first game that is conjured up in my mind.

The original 1995 release of Daytona USA for me.
If I could ignore Daytona USA for 1 sec it would be a number of factors...
Sega Rally Virtua Fighter - Series of releases Lobotomy Software

I would love to say Panzer Dragoon Saga for the obvious reasons great gameplay great graphichs everything top notch yet not that many played it But i will go for xmen vs street fighter and i dont think its the greatest Saturn game. I just think it screams this is saturn it was arcade perfect when no one thought it could be. It shows hey this is is what we are not 3d but the most powerful and impressive 2d machine around. It also doesnt hurt that when competition did the same game it wasnt even on the same planet.

The Saturn is defined by Virtua Fighter or Sega Rally for sure, but NiGHTS is what immediately comes to mind when the Saturn arrives into conversation!

For me the Saturn is defined by the ports of SEGA's model 2 games. Daytona USA and SEGA Rally stand out the most for me in this regard, but the Virtua Cop and Virtua Fighter games, along with the arcade ports that followed, resonate too. SEGA promised Saturn arcade perfect ports, and while non reached this plateau (although some came close) the gameplay was the same as the arcades and stood out. It's this arcade style of gameplay that defines the Saturn for me. Many magazines, SSM in particular, used to discuss the ports - how they played, how they looked, how they compared to the originals - and this remains with me when I think of the Saturn.
It wasn't just SEGA who ported great arcade games to the Saturn - Capcom was a staunch supporter of the console, and I recall many late nights and great matches of games like Street Fighter Alpha 2 and Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo. However, it's the gameplay magic of SEGA's arcade ports that I think of when I think 'Saturn'. This type of gameplay shone through in some of SEGA's other non-arcade games like Panzer Dragoon Zwei. It's the sort of fun gameplay that is easy to get into, but harder to master, yet always fun.
As a side note, when I think of Saturn, I always remember it's sleekness: the exterior design of the console as well as the menus are stylish and show the love SEGA's engineers had for the system before it was put onto the market.

Mention the Sega Saturn to someone who's into gaming but never had one and you'll almost always get Panzer Dragoon back in the reply.

has to be Daytona usa generating good and bad publicity in equal measures and starting the bad ball rolling in the saturns life that stayed with it till the end.

I'd have to agree with daytona USA. Although I really don't get the bad publicity thing. Is there pop up? Yes. Is it fun as hell? Yes. Is it miles better than its competitor Ridge Racer? Yes. Not even close.
