I did try this way on a Saturn of mine but the switch didn't function 100% of the time. I think lifting the leg is best but it is obviously quite a bit trickier.

with a craft nife, some tiny needle nosed pliers, electrical tape and a bit of care it's an easy enough job, even for someone as inept at soldering as I am.
