Come on people, TUNE YOUR CARS. If you play with the stock cars, yeah, the game sucks. But I can easily get in 1st place for the championship after I've tuned my car. Isn't that hard. It's definitely worth the money. And please, worth isn't tied to how good a game is, but rarity. The game is rare. You never find US copies of the game for sale in mom and pop stores. Here is some proof you can do well in the game. Barely even tried, and did it with out an analog 3D controller: Attachments:

You may have to dig a little deeper ceramicsaturn, that's if it can be found but I and others have said good things about Sega Touring Cars. You can do the whole thing with-out ever tuning any car and my preferred way to play. It's not really that rare in the land of PAL, more a case people don't get on with it because of the frame rate so it shows up now and then more often as it were, + the Japanese version is easier to get hold of. Takes practice any way to get into it, but those that have put the time in normally walk away more pleased with the game than their first impressions. That reminds me, this might of be of interest. Me rolling with Daytona USA 1995 for Sega Saturn. Link: www.youtube.com/watch?v=rQax5ExYaWM

I always go in for tuning, but the fact of the matter is I don't really enjoy any racing game where you're required to constantly compensate for really shitty handling characteristics.
I too can place well on the game, but the fact it's possible to win a race does not forgive STC all it's ills, the game is insanely broken.
No, it doesn't always deserve the overly harsh treatment it gets, there are FAR worse racing games of the same vintage. but it still feels horrible to play next to many of it's console based rivals from the same era.

Well I did finally get a copy for around $25. I will say it doesn't play nearly as bad as I expected. I used the Analog Controller and used the stock automatic Supra and was able to maintain decent control using the throttle and brakes. The only place I really had trouble was the third course on the hairpin at the end.
