Hi there, new here but my problem is winding me up big time:
My white jap saturn turns on fine, it will play music cds without issue... when i put in a game, it will get to the sega license screen and then fail with the disc just spinning around... some games get to a 'now loading' but just sit there, like shining force 3 and dead or alive, shinging force 3 gives an access error
a little background: i bought this saturn off ebay as having a 240v supply put into it and a modchip... plugged it in, the game started and then 5 mins later, poof and it was off... from inspecting the person who sold it didnt put in a 240v board but left in the 100v one, suprised it lasted 5minutes changed the fuse and it still didnt turn on, so thought powerboard was dead bought saturn with a broken lens and a power board that would fit on (ignoring the 5th pin which ntsc ones dont seem to have)
ive fiddled the orange potentiometer a little but no difference
do you think it is the lens, or the main motherboard? i dont want to invest in a lens for nothing
i hope someone can help ^^

I THINK... as soon as you realised that you had fired up a 100v Saturn with 240v, that you should've contacted the seller straight away and returned it for a refund and bought a different unit. I know returning stuff can be a major ball-ache, however, I think that's the path I would've taken. It would have certainly saved you from owning the 'for spare parts or repair' Saturn you have in your possession right now THERE ARE... however, a couple of members here with a much more avid technical knowledge of the chips (etc) of the Saturn on these boards who can probably actually tell you what's physically happened here. It's no great secret though that 110v unit set-ups dislike 240v inputs... permanently.

i have that feeling its dead, i should of filed before the 45 day limit but i was mainly planning for my holiday so thats a lesson learnt in filing straight away i guess i have the feeling its the main board that had a chip damaged, but i cant think of a way to test... i have a plain old pal machine that needs a new lens, should i try to put the lens from the one im unsure about into it and see if it will play a game? it is possible to remove the lens unit only?

Does it still not read games with the mod chip removed?

i tried that, the console recognises a legitimate game is in there and has the start application on the top left, and it will play track 2 if you want asking you to put it in a machine...
if you select start application it goes to the big sega license screen and hangs just after that moment
really weird, im guessing my console is now a dud from this ie main circuits are dead, but i would of thought it wouldnt reach the cd player program if it was a dud

Norfolk ey!
My white saturn which i sent to a guy on this forum to be modded was sent to norfolk, and it had a 240v PSU supply fitted, which was done when i owned it before i sent it off.
Don't suppose you could tell me if the LED changes colour for different regions?
Prab
PS got a link to the auction listing?
