Hey everyone. I've never seen these forums before, but when I found the place I just had to join.
The Sega Saturn is by far my favorite system. When I was a kid, I was so enamored by the console. Everything from the logo, system, controller, and games I wanted like nothing else. Up until that point, I had only owned Nintendo consoles, starting with the NES. My friends all had Genesis consoles, but it was never really my cup of tea.
Of course, I was much too young to afford this on my own, being about 10 at the time. By the time I had the ability to raise enough cash to buy a console on my own, it was 1998 and the Saturn was gone. The money went towards a clear green N64 instead. My parents did buy me a used "Saturn" from a co-worker in 1997.... it ended up being a Genesis. HUGE disappointment. I still remember drooling over gaming magazines on the school bus, thinking Sonic R looked like the coolest game ever made, haha.
Years later I got my first Saturn early in college, a Model 1 in mint condition. Being a HUGE fan of arcades from that era (still remember playing VF1 arcade cabinet for the first time at a Toys R US and being awe struck), games like Daytona USA, Sega Rally, Virtua Fighter 1 etc were just amazing to play. Then I discovered the import scene, and all the 2D fighters (arcade perfect!) and 2D shooters. My collection was pretty vast. I had over 60 US games in mint condition (hard with those cases always being in rough shape), at least 50 Japanese titles, a Model 1 Saturn, a white import Saturn, a Hi-Saturn (charcoal one with tan oval buttons), and grey model 1 import Saturn.
I was pretty obsessed with it. Unfortunately, the economy hit us pretty hard, and with me being a newly wed and trying to get into our first home, most of my video gaming collection was sold.. including my Saturn collection.
Now things are better, and I've gotten back into the swing of things. I recently won an auction on eBay for a boxed mint condition white Saturn (not tanned) that came with a controller, clear controller (from a Cool system), and a copy of Soukyugurentai for just 150 shipped.
Here is what I have currently. Hopefully this gives you guys some insight on what kind of games I like. If anyone has some suggestions let me know. Not what I had before, but not bad for three weeks of collecting Been playing these games so much, and having the time of my life again. Actually considering selling my R2-D2 Xbox 360 as these games are more up my alley than modern console games.:
Soukyugurentai
Daytona USA
Sega Rally Championship
Panzer Dragoon
Panzer Dragoon 2 Zwei
Gran Chaser
Sega Touring Championship (actually a fun game if you tune your car)
Vampire Hunter
Fighting Vipers

Virtua Fighter 2
Marvel Superheroes vs SF
X-Men vs SF
Nights into Dreams
