Hi guys, This game doesn't ever really get a mention on here. What's everyones opinions? Is it worth getting or is it crap? I did download a copy a year or two back and play it once or twice, but didn't really have an opinion on it. It seemed quite tough, but the graphics seemed pretty good in 3D and it seemed solid. Not sure if it's worth the £50 price-tag though

Never really played it much but I was impressed with the graphics, sound ect... one of the better ones I recall. I played Thunder Force IV on MD more lol. Not putting you off here, but check it out just in case you don't have a copy... If there was one shump I played on MD it was Gynoug. Older MD game, but wicked.

YOU KNEW... I'd bite on this one, eh? It's good, but imo, it's not an instant love affair. For me, TFV was a grower. Initially I was actually put off by the 3D pseudo 2D approach, but I grew to like it eventually. It's got quite a lot going for it - great playability, cool weapons system and over-weapons ("FREE-RANGE") and of course, the soundtrack is fantastic too. And who can forget the 2nd stage homage to PDZwei's Forest Stage Boss? It's a decent game mate and well-worth owning imo. As always, it can be brutal though if it so feels inclined (i.e. instant vaporising beams with no time to manoeuvre!). But you'll get used to that. Thunderforce games (III, AC, IV, V & VI) have their own unique flavour tbh. Only time will tell if you like it or not

Cheers for the opinion Neo @ MIK - Iv'e had Gynoug for the MD and really didn't like it. The graphics were awful and I just thought it was a plain game. I realise it was an early MD release though

As BIG fan of the series I found TFVa little lacking, it looks great but it's just missing something compared to III and IV. It is enjoyable though, far from a bad title

I'd put it around the middle of the pack of Saturn shmups. As Neo said, the free range weapon rocks! It almost makes the game too easy. Once you lose it though, the game becomes very hard!

I enjoyed it. It has an awesome soundtrack, great visuals, interesting weapons, but is rock hard. I need to go back and complete it. It's one of my favourite shooters on the Saturn.

Rocking soundtrack and some impressive graphics, but the game itself is not that satisfactory. Still worth playing a round from time to time.

Its a great game and it does have a killer soundtrack. Its plays really well and its does look impressive while playing it but in all honesty its nothing special. There are much better shooters out there.
