Right, Im after one of these, but not both as they are basically the same game. So, which one is better and why? They both cost the same and watching a few videos, they look very similar. Is one more import friendly than the other?

I say 2X is better in the charm department. I just like the feel of it much better.
#3 just feels blegh, has some really annoying remixes of previous music, and characters that are unmemorable. All it has to offer are a few more gameplay mechanics.
Oh one thing I must note, the AI in #3 is absolutely pathetic. I played through both on the hardest setting and I literally beat the first five guys of #3 by shooting around randomly and waiting for the CPU to kill themself. #2 has the much harder main game if you're playing alone.
Go with #2!!

Like Yart, I definitely prefer 2X over 3, but only because I got it first and played it to death to be honest. That said, I don't have any issues with 3 and I actually like some of the new characters (each of which seems to be modelled on a different generic style of game - eg. a Ryu alike etc.). I actually play it semi-regularly too (if only for the character who shouts out 'WOLLOCKS' whenever you throw a few chains at the opposition!!). Anyway, If I had to choose only 1 of the 2 - I'd go with 2X too.

I will say 3X purely for the sake of going against the status quo.
Yeah, i'm finally a rebel!!!

I can only comment on the N64 versions but I doubt there is much difference between those and the Saturn games (apart from 4 player mode in the N64 BAM #3)
BAM 3 has a lot more content - in addition to the puzzle and vs modes, it has the challenge mode, the sets of puzzles submitted by BAM fans, a puzzle editor, and also a "2.5 mode" which has BAM #2's puzzles with the new #3 rules.
I prefer the look and feel of #2 though. #3 looks a bit sterile and it just feels a bit rushed presentation-wise but it plays just as well which is what really matters.
