So my saturn was working fine on friday picture was okay, sound perfect etc. Then i had to send it home because I'm away at school and my new games will going to my house and so I wouldn't be able to test if they worked. So i sent my saturn home with my dad and my friend picked it up for me. He hooked it up to his plasma tv and said the picture was fine but that no sound would play. I told him just try hooking it up to a crt and check the cord connetions and such. He tried on two other tvs and still no sound. Anyone got any idea what could be wrong? And any way I could fix it? Once again I'm not at home so I do not know the exact nature of the problem **edit always forget to mention its a model 2 saturn NTSC that I bought refurbished and it has never given me any issues in the past

The first question that follows might be very obvious, but what cables do you use to connect your saturn to your TV ( 's ) and have you tried an alternative cable. Might be too simple a question.

I just use the standard saturn composite cable and I would try an alternative cable but none of my pals own a saturn I expect it may be the cable myself but the cable did work fine on friday before I sent it home to my friend. I was just wondering if it could be any other possible issue. Like something internally wrong with my saturn:(

I'm not a Saturn Hardware specialist so anyone here is free to correct me if I'm wrong: Like any other hardware the Sega has a chip for soundprocessing, so what you said ( "like something internally wrong.. " ) is possible. However: the video cable is usually the first thing to check, since the cable is is plugged in and removed several times during its lifespan ( some more than others ) . If you don't have a friend with a cable ( an s-video to composite or scart if I'm not mistaken ) - doesnt have to be one that came with a sega console - you could also use the cable to connect another s-video device you might own. Also, a cheap cable to check will set you back 5 dollars, so thats no big investment to make certain your console is not the cause. Do note that better quality video cables can cost you a bit more You could also try asking for a spare cable here , but if there were people willing to help the shipping costs alone wouldn't make it worth your while. Hope your console is fine

Well the only other s-video I've ever owned is my dreamcast but my pal has a box of cables and half he doesnt even no what they are for so maybe ill see if he can dig up a s-vid cable. Would be kinda crappy if it was the cable seeing as I bought em brand new two years ago Least my saturn still displays video

Pipe the audio jacks into something other than your TV, another TV or an amplifier etc. just to eliminate the possibility that the issue is with your composite on your TV.
Then as has been already said your next port of call is another cable.
I've never seen or read about even one instance of the Saturn's sound dying completely internally.
