hey guys!
i just bought a saturn and i'm really keen to find out what i've missed all these years! i was bought a ps1 as a kid, and i used to wonder where all the good games were... so i migrated to an n64, where i've sat for a few years.
i figured i'd complete the movement and figure it all out! i keep a blog called jumpnshoot9000.com, and i recently did a bit of a writeup on the history of the saturn so i could justify the console's purchase to myself hahaha

Greetings, Wondering where were all the good games for Psone were has no weight around here as we've all grown up and most of us have a PSone with some great games long side our Sega Saturn's. What the Saturn didn't do or have the Psone did & vs versa. Best of both worlds. Enjoy your Saturn tho! Can't beat a bit of easy right maybe, over jump, lets see your run one more time Sega Rally goodness. Have FUN!

Depends what type of games you enjoy playing... If there was not a lot on PSone that took your fancy you must of had a very limited collection and/or you may have a harder time of it with Sega Saturn other than maybe Saturn exclusives. But maybe that's it!... Your here to collect and not play? If you like Sega Rally then V-Rally & Colin Mcrae are better than you think. If you enjoyed Doom then you've come to the wrong house. Other series went further in the long run on Psone such as Need 4 Speed, Wipe Out, Tomb Raider, Resident Evil and even Command & Conquer. The same games on PSone are cheaper than Sega Saturn in general and sometimes as good as, other times better than Saturn and the odd time not as good such as Exhumed. If you didn't like OddWorld: Abe's Oddysee which was going to be released on Sega Saturn before it was pulled then you may not like BUG! Both just as cheeky. Quality games! End of the day it's all about the games you want to play, not the console brands. Secretly enjoying a Psone is not going to harm Sega today. ;D

Welcome! If you're seriously interested in good ps1 games, I'm currently playing Castlevania: Symphony of the Night and it is quite good. It's also ported to the Saturn but the Japanese menus may put you off and is more expensive than the ps1 version. Wipeout 3 is also a very good game. I get where you're coming from though. Games like Metal Gear Solid and Gran Turismo interest me for about 5 minutes then I get bored with them. And since the ps1 library is so freaking huge there is a virtual mountain of poor games to sort through in retro stores as well as ebay (not to mention that searching via the net also yields ps2 and ps3 titles). I also find the ps1 controller to be one of my least favorites. If you're like me and you're tastes are geared more towards arcade games from the 90's then you are in the right place. The Saturn baseball games are still the best I've ever played. It's strong in shmups and 2d fighters. It's no slouch in 3d fighters either and has some solid rpgs. But, as MIK said, the ps1 does have quite a few solid titles if you're willing to seek them out.

i think you get where i'm coming from bradcap ; ) the mountain of terrible games that i ended up with, let alone find myself sifting through not only on ebay and website reviews exasperates me... not to say the ps1 was an entirely bad console, but you understand me 100% when you say grand turismo and MGS hold your interest for 5 minutes

you're absolutely right though, MIK - it doesn't make any logical sense to knock on a brand when it is the games that matter. i'm a huge fan of the wipeout series, and i have every crash bandicoot game on the platform memorised!
i'm not here to collect! ho ho

Tekken 2 and 3, FF7, SotN, Wipeout 2097, Silhouette Mirage, Colin McRae and Tony Hawk 1 and 2 were the reasons I played Playstation 1. SotN was released as a Saturn JP import, Wipeout 1 and 2097 were released on Saturn as well and Tony Hawk 1 and 2 were both released on the Dreamcast.
