Ah now I understand. Most likely your cart isn't inserted correctly. When I first got one, it ran imports and 4mb RAM cart games fine, but when I tried to copy saves from the internal to the cart, it crashed and I lost everything. After pulling the cart out about 2mm this problem never happened again.
Also how are you attempting to save to the cart? You can't directly save to it while playing a game, you must transfer the saves back and forth between the cart and internal memory.

That's why then hah, I have no internal memory at the moment, untill I get a new battery. I thought the cart might work as a single unit for saving.
It goes to the action replay start up screen and everything, but to have it inserted correctly are you saying it shouldn't be pushed right in? Thanks for the help.

Its really the faut of the crappily built Saturn Cart slot. In my case I had to push it all the way in, then pull it out about 2mm. It will vary for every Saturn, you'll have to experiment.

I have a question about AR, not that important but I want to know some things before buying it: when it's plugged in does it always goes to the AR menu even if you don't need to, is there a way to omit it without taking the cart out? And when you start the game with AR cart in the slot does Saturn boot the game twice (first time and the AR menu appears, then second time from the AR menu)?

And the carts - the AR carts use a thicker PCB than official ones, making the pins move more. Also, Marvel VS SF only glitches if you are playing it at 50Hz - at least, in my experience this is how it goes. Same goes for SFZ3. Japanese Panzer Dragoon SAGA does not work with the cart, although there are AR codes for the PAL and US version that make them run. Watch out for fake Action Replays as well.

Hence one of the reasons why I stick to the hard-switch mod. Little unnecessary boot-up screens like that when all I want to do is play a game annoy the hell out of me.
