I've had Bug Too for a while but have never been able to make much progress in it. I was honestly surprised by how brutal the difficulty is. I'm usually pretty good at platformers, but couldn't get past Antennae Day myself. The amount of pixel perfect jumps you have to make, infrequent save points, and unpredictable deaths prevented me from finishing it. I actually found the game pretty fun at times, but it's more frustrating than fun now.
With that in mind, was the first Bug any easier? I think I could really enjoy it if I actually stood a chance! Also out of curiosity, did anyone else have trouble with the difficulty of Bug Too?

Nope.
I was actually able to beat Bug Too back in the day, but mostly only due to the sheer amount of time I put into that fucking thing. Bug, on the other hand, I had never played until recently and was just completely unwilling to keep drudging on through the frustration (maybe being armed with a mod-chip these days gives me far less patience than I used to have).
It seems like the original game has even fewer checkpoints than the sequel, in addition to no run button and, from what I recall, no ability to spit (I could be wrong on that). It's pretty much exactly how you described Bug Too: fun at times, but more frustrating than fun.
I'm curious to see what someone would say who's played the first game more than I have, though.

BUG! is a bit easier to get in to yeah and with practice your complete a couple of worlds even but it can grind a bit having to play from the start over and over the deeper you get in to the game. It's more old school than anything as you learn from your mistakes and get better with each and every play. It is meant to be hard just how most games were in the years leading up to it. Sonic the Hedgehog even makes an appearance. It's a classic for the Saturn, a game hero Sega should return too and could of been used in the new Sonic Racing games even! If you enjoy pain and suffering try Rick Dangerous which can be played on the link below and that's what BUG! is all about - hardcore! rickdangerousflash.free.fr/

Though I think I'm more amused by it's cruel deathtraps and unforgiving nature than frustrated by it. The ridiculous screams help too. By the sounds of things, I probably won't rush out to get the first Bug any time soon. Chances are I'll end up with it down the line when buying a bulk lot or something as it seems pretty common, but I seem to have trouble really getting the hang of Bug Too's gameplay style. Guess I'm just not hardcore enough!

Very Challenging then might be a better way of saying it. I guess you need to be hardcore to see it to the end which I have not done either with BUG!, AVIT!

I used to play this one on my Amiga way back when. Although, I seemed to remember him wearing a cape and superman outfit for some reason?? Must be the sequel I've played too (i.e. I remember it going on about Hyde Park or something in the intro? ) That's a long time ago! ;D

From my experience I've found Bug! to be easier. I've managed to complete it several times back in the day (and more recently). However, I really struggle with the sequel. I took me several attempts to beat the first world but never managed to complete to game.

Is Bug any easier than Bug Too? It does seem a tad easier, at least based upon my own experiences with both games. As pointed out above though, both games are extremely challenging platformers and I'm ashamed to admit that I've never managed to complete either!! For what it's worth, I can get a lot further in Bug than I ever managed with the sequel - Unfortunately though, in the case of both games (and as MIK states above) it really is a question of learning the levels by repeated play.

Indeed the Rick with a cape was Rick Dangerous 2. Yeah BUG! is one you have to pick at on and off, but don't leave it too long else your forget. Is a nice game tho. Was a real early title for the Saturn and for a while one of the better ones until Sega Rally and Virtua Fighter 2 came along so yeah you had time to play it properly with a limited amount of games to play at the start. If you already have BUG2 then all the better, you have them in the right order for collection reasons as 2 is hard to find. Mine is not as mint as I would like but it works, some day I hope to get back in to BUG2, but I still need to finish the original.

I ended up giving Bug Too another crack today, and after a bit of trial and error, I managed to beat Antennae Day. Strangely, Scene 1 was by far the hardest. The invisible platform maze was very frustrating when you're trying to figure out where the next platform is while also dodging comets. I also had a bit of trouble with the final jump at the end of Scene 5, since you have to time it pretty much perfectly. It was satisfying to finally make progress though. I'm kind of terrified of what could be next in the game though! P.S. The "Watch Uranus!" joke in the boss fight was terrible EDIT: After some more obsessive playing, I finally managed to complete the game. I wasn't going to let the game get the last laugh here! Everything after Antennae Day actually seemed pretty tame by comparison, but was still challenging. Swatterworld's level design was very confusing! In the end though, I'm glad I went back to it and finished it up. Maybe I will give the first Bug a try when I'm in the mood for more pain!

I've only finished both of these games by taking advantage of their level select codes... I just don't have the patience for them, and I normally love brutally hard challenges!
