I thought I was the only person on the face of the earth still cursing my Mem cart! It's nice to know I'm not the only one that has had my (gamesave) memories brutally ripped from my hands as if Segata himself couldn't save them.
I can still recall the day I bought my second saturn, plugged in my Suck 3rd party card and it erased itself. I was on the last battle of Albert Odyssey, needless to say I played it all the way through twice over after that. I have since gotten a legit mem cart, but the AR stays in the saturn for the most part.

I usually am able to reply to all emails within 24hours. I apologize if any replys were missed. It is possible that my spam filter may have prevented an email from getting through, but I usually check that too. In addition to gamesave transfer, the DataLink can also be useful for homebrew development. I will make post in the homebrew topic regarding this also.

I've heard of many complaints about the backup cartridges - I have had 2 for years and they have never glitched on me once .... maybe I'm tempting fate by posting this fact...
I've also a 5-in-1 that I use to back up my system memory onto and that has never failed me either.

I bought a Saturn recently that just never saves period and always resets the clock. I think it might have been a little impulsive and noobish of me to have bought the thing without checking with the seller if the memory was working (especially since I was buying it to play Panzer Dragoon Saga) and if that wasn't bad enough, the console came without instructions. But what can I say? It cost a tenner, was in good condition and had VF2 bundled with it. I am going to buy a memory cart for the system, although it would be ideal if I could replace the battery for the internal memory. The problem with that is that I have no idea how to remove it without breaking the thing and even if I managed that, I couldn't guarantee it working. It seems the battery it stored in a compartment in the back of the console with a large empty space and a socket that looks like it was designed for HDD. For all I know, I'm way off, but if someone could fill me in on what would and wouldn't work, it would be greatly appreciated. Part of the reason I don't want to have to resort to the memory card is that I need the upper cartridge slot to play Japanese games would like to be able to save them if at all possible.
Can anyone help me on this?

You need to replace the battery.
Also, if you are using an Action Replay 4-in-1 to play imports, it has a gamesave copy feature built into it for backing up and copying saves back to the Saturn's internal memory.
Although you should be warned, that there are lots of games that royally fuck up at 50Hz, So getting switches fitted to switch refresh rate and region is better.

If you search for Sega Saturn batteries on e-gay they are always available, and cheap, check expiry dates!!!!!! The batteries slip out easy enough, dont be too gentle, also, the battery is required for saves even with a memory/4-in-1 cart.......

My TV is 60Hz... or will this be the main problem?

Well, it's really a case of what your preference is. Obviously a lot of people are going to say "Boxed" but you don't need other people to tell you whether you want your memory card boxed or unboxed. I personally do not keep boxes for accessories, since they take up too much sodding room

Well I guess I'll get the used one, I can't afford the new one anyway right now It'll really help me, internal memory is already too small to hold saves from all my games (and I have 7 now).
