Don't think he will get as much as it might be worth, might get more than he paid for it tho as ebay in 2002 was all new. I guess it depends who is watching and what happens when people snipe at the end. If it came with the PC that was used to talk to it then wow would be something else! As is - not my bag. Rather use the retail versions.

One day, we'll have to reverse engineer that VCD port, and make it stock PC compatible.

I dunno why but I am not as excited with that as much as I thought I would be. I've seen Dev kits for other consoles and they look pretty good and I wouldn't mind them but this? As a huge Saturn fan - meh. The PS2 dev kit looked pretty cool. All it was, was a massive PS2 that functions as a dev kit. Also played PS2 games. I mean I wouldn't go out of my way to own one but if I saw one cheap - sure.

lol item ended because it was lost or broken. Always the way when it's not going to make what they think it should be worth. Without that PC to talk to it it's a spoiled machine with a cable hanging off it really. If it's hard to program for then how hard is it to talk to the thing without the proper gear?

Technically all you need is a 32bit Windows installation, a SCSI card and cable, and a way to convert cd images to the DSK format - and then you can use this machine to run games without burning them.

One day, we'll have to reverse engineer that VCD port, and make it stock PC compatible. The CD interface has already been reverse-engineered and a proof-of-concept CD emulator demonstrated. Of course if you want to program for the machine there are far simpler methods.

IIRC he posted on SegaXtreme that he had successfully loaded from an emulated CD. It was not by any means complete, but showed that it could be done.

I'm surprised no one bid on it, was his reserve too high?
