Thanks for the advice marc and davyk. Like I said I'm not a hardcore SHMUP guy nor will I ever be but helpful advice none the less. I don't play them very frequently but my play style is alot less hectic then it was originally. Once you realize that less movement is more you are much better off

Well, also consider what types of bullet you are supposed to dodge. The main types are aimed pattern, and fixed patterns. A fixed pattern will always be the same regardless the position of your ship, while aimed is ... aimed at your ship. Usually an aimed pattern may be dodged by moving your ship a little after the pattern has been fired. A fixed pattern is dodged by placing your ship at the correct position, and not moving.
Things get fun when ennemies send both fixed and aimed pattern. For such an instance, the stage 6 boss of Dodonpachi comes to mind : the blue lines are aimed while the pink rain is fixed, you can watch WR (?) holder navigate through this here, no as easy as he makes it seem to be :
Oh wait, that was 1st loop, too easy ! The same pattern in the second loop of the games is better (he bombs it at the end). If you're curious, also watch the fight with the True Last Boss that follows right after :

Not so much a new purchase but a replacement one. I finally replaced the PAL jewel case Virtua cop with the long box version which is gettng incredibly rare to find but thanks to Dtss I picked it up from an Australian games site. Now I can finally store the manual in the case it was intended to be in. Now I've been replaying it like crazy. Also picked up Shining Wisdom despite always being turned off by it in the past but I'm giving it a try and it's not bad in all honesty.

Nice. I'm still stuck with jewel case version of VC1. I have the box that it comes in with the gun though - so for now I'm happy enough with that.

Playing around with JP version of Space Invaders last night. Posted 2 videos -
video 1 : last invader bug - happens if the last invader left is one of the bottom row skulls.
video 2 : SI strategy - abusing the fact that invaders on the last rung can't shoot you. High risk but effective.

So I played for the first time Robopit. Fun game. Plays similarly to Virtual On. You build your own robot with many different options for you to fully customise their heads, arms, legs, weapons etc. With each affecting the speed, jumping and attacking of your robot. As you win fights, you can also level up and get new weapons as a prize for winning. Only got to give it a go for about 30minutes but what I played I enjoyed. It's a cheaper title so worth a pickup.

Finished Panzer Dragoon and Panzer Zwei moving onto Panzer Saga (not the first time I beat it of course).
Also incidentally on the last level of Panzer Orta but dear lord is it a difficult game

Played Through "D" tonight..... Haven't played it in probably 20 years.... I knew it was short but Wow. Finished the game in 40 minutes. Amazing that while I hadn't played through and beat the game in 20 years I still remembered every puzzle and what to do. I know this game has a bit of a cult following and is considered a classic and no doubt it's a good game but you really didn't get much bang for your buck if you bought this back in the day. I remember I hired it from video store and beat it with ease. I know there's multiple endings but still, not a whole lot to come back to with this one. Having said that, very much enjoyed playing through it and I might play through it again in another 20 years

I've been replaying Enemy Zero on a harder difficulty for my podcast. Such a damn good game, if a little stressful.
I'd also forgotten how beautiful the soundtrack is.

Currently playing through Sonic Jam as believe it or not I've never completed a sonic game, even though I got the 1st game on import before the UK release. I'm having a ball even though my reflexes are not as sharp as they were.
