With the chance of bagging a copy of this it makes me think, why was this game never sequelled on Dreamcast, or Xbox? Along with Radiant Silvergun it's one of the most wanted Saturn games so why didn't Sega cash in?

the problem was around the time Saga was released the saturn's popularity had dwindled and Saturn just didnt get accepted well around the rest of the world so I guess the whole panzer games weren't a huuge success globally (despite being critically well recieved) although I'm pretty sure Zwei had hit around 300k units sold in japan alone..
Team Andromeda had disbanded after that each going to other sega programming teams.. If I can get off my ass theres a rare interview with the Team Andromeda guys just before the release of Panzer Zwei in one of the UK mags I could post up.. but image shack is being a pain and the size of the mag is larger than A4.. and I hate sites that resize images...
and as for Treasure games in some interviews made years ago.. I'm pretty sure they said they dont like making sequels... although recently they brought ones on GBA...

From what I can remember playing of this it wasn't that good. I had more fun with Zwei to be honest.

Although magazine coverage of Panzer Dragoon Saga never really took off until the 1997 E3, this game was first mentioned (albeit briefly) in a Winter 1996 promotional brochure that hinted at a release very soon. Of course, development of such a massive and artistically ambitious title was never going to be a quick task, and by the time Sega Europe took delivery of a finished PAL version it was subjected to a limited print run that would never do justice to the dedicated work Team Andromeda put in originally. Not even a second batch made that much difference, which is why so many fans are now prepared to cough up huge amounts (not literally, of course) for second-hand copies, download the game online or continue demanding for a remake/sequel on modern hardware. By reissuing this "lost" classic, Sega would ruin the value for Saturn collectors, so if anything the only real options seem to be emulation - which nearly happened, had the GiriGiri project for PC not folded due to piracy - or inclusion of Panzer Dragoon Saga in a future retrospective package... maybe along with other rare titles from the same period, such as Radiant Silvergun (yeah, right!), Grandia and newly translated versions of the last two Shining Force III scenarios? Knowing the way Sega of today is so out of touch with fans of its established past, I doubt many people within the company even care about the likes of Panzer Dragoon Saga when a new Sonic game is where the easy money can be found... *sigh*

A very poor rendition I have to say, didn't put me of buying it though...... I don't think Sega's owners give a rats ass about Sega fans or collectors.

Along with Radiant Silvergun it's one of the most wanted Saturn games so why didn't Sega cash in? Panzer Dragoon Saga had the sequel Panzer Dragoon Orta for the Xbox. Sure, it's not an RPG like Saga so I can see your point. Treasure released a 'spiritual' sequel to Radiant Silvergun - Ikaruga - for the Dreamcast and gamecube. It's funny though. People complain when companies don't cash in, and then when they do and it isn't a revolution...

I want Panzer Dragoon Saga and Silvergun really badly but I hope Sega or Treasure never re-release them on next-gen systems. A new update of Panzer would go down a treat though. Orta was magnificent yet the average gamer nowadays turns their noses up about it. It's now £5!!!! in the indie game shop were I work and still no takers.........morons.

Wow! orta is well worth a fiver, my local indie currently has all dreamcast games reduced to £3.99, apart from outrigger which for some bizzare reason they wont drop below £14.99 They also have copies of SEGA Rally for saturn at a ridiculous £9.99, though the last copy of PDS they let go for £40!
