ok somehow during play I noticed when resetting I lost all my saves on my 4-1. it's a real pain as I can't get it to work anymore. I already had a memorycard break on me before. but 4-1 is extra bad. anyway how this happens or even if it can be repaired? it simply won't load my 4 in 1 anymore. while my saturn does load other memorycards

Only thing i can think of is check the pins on the memory card are clean, then if that doesnt work, see if you can open up the card and check for damage. i have a feeling though if your saturn reads other cards id say your 4 in 1 is broken, Saturns are known for having crap pins on the connector for the memory card, in your case it doesnt seem this applies

The whole memory card/AR4+1/internal memory battery/cart slot sh*t really, really irks me about the machine. I have game saves on PS1 memory cards dating back to my teenage years - highscores, progress, track unlocks etc. The Saturn is a real pain in the arse in this respect. Anyway, my venting and "feeling your pain" aside, the AR4+1's have an issue whereby they will unintentionally COMPLETELY flash themselves back to a blank PCB with zero info. Chances are all that info is long gone I'm afraid. However, I did recently hear - somewhere on this forum - that such carts can be re-flashed with the relevant software via the (what I think is) an RS232-esque PC interface on top of the PCB, hidden under the shell (or exposed, depending on how old it is). Might be worth asking round to see if anyone here can do this for you. Sorry again for your loss btw. I've given up with Fighters Megamix's extra characters or keeping record of Shmup hhighscores now. It is, quite literally, pointless...

This sums it all up rather nicely, imo...

the problem isn't it didn't just wipe it all off. it doesn't seem to work anymore also my 4-1 in doesn't have pins that go into the slot but that thick cart that goes in it, which ruins the saturn slot. it does have pins in top of it that I have no idea what could eb used for. maybe some connection to a pc is possible.

This is why messing with cheap china produced hack tools is not a good idea for the serious. None of the RAM cart games are actually Saturn originals, hence just get the real deals of those games and be happy. I mean Waku Waku 7 on Saturn.....the horror, oh teh horror....

I mean Waku Waku 7 on Saturn.....the horror, oh teh horror.... Agreed. That specific title is NOT ideal. The final battle with Fernandeath is, pretty much, unplayable imo...

Not really the Saturns fault; the battle with Fernandez is unplayable on the Neogeo original too. He takes up 80% of the screen normally, 50% when zoomed out, and all his moves cover the entire screen and do huge damage.

I own the NeoGeo version (and PS2 version) and it runs perfectly by comparison. Your mixing up your subjective views with the objective facts: it doesn't run very well on the Saturn

Point is it doesn't matter how it runs because it's an unplayable level anyway.

It's pretty playable. Not conventional, but playable...

Being unplayable is not the Saturns fault, obviously its a crap version on the Saturn if it runs as it should on other consoles. People always blame the machine but like computers rubbish in rubbish out.

People always blame the machine but like computers rubbish in rubbish out. You have a point. The game port is hindered by the lack of memory made available to it. I'm sure had it utilised Capcoms 4Mb RAM cart > the 1Mb of RAM, it would have fared much better. However, the same can be said of both arguments: the Saturn is incapable of handling the game as is vs the developers putting out a port that wasn't 100% satisfactory against their own hardware requirements. To be fair though, the game runs fine up until that final fight though...

Actually Saturns biggest issue was that the 2 processors couldnt access system memory at the same time, as to internal memory it had 2mb which was bigger than ps1. some developers where just confused by Saturns hardware and this caused the games (to my mind at least) to be below par when Saturn was capable of more. One game that stands out, wasnt released outside Japan was Dead Or Alive, i dont care who says it but Saturns version is the best, it was one game that should have got a worldwide release.
