It's a third party mod so it can be anything, but from the position alone it is most likely a 50/60hz switch.

ok.. thanks. It costs 100 euros (82 pounds, 135 dollars), but it's in the original box, which is kinda nice. Well, if the condition of the console is anything to go by Micha, I wouldn't hold out on the condition of the box. Horrific...

I got my saturn on a Ebay Auction in Almost new condition with box for 60 Euros. Sometimes You get lucky on Ebay. The 60hz switch is imo a must have on a Pal console, It removes those ugly black bars in your pal games and let most games run at full speed.

Pal Wipeout Runs too fast if forced in 60hz, The timer runs out too fast. But Most popular games are "Pal optimized" so they run at their correct speed in 50hz. I personally gave up with pal games and went with the Jpn and us versions which are all fullscreen and fullspeed.

Black bars aren't a problem on modern sets because you can pick 14:9 zoom in most of them which hides the bars. You just have a screwy aspect ratio then.

Some Saturn's might have 3 switches on the back, mine has. The switches are on the battery cover on mine. Just enough room to replace the battery when required. Switch 1 is 50/60hz All 3 UP = PAL 50hz ALL 3 DOWN = NTSC Japan 60hz 2 DOWN & 1 UP = NTSC America 60hz (PAL) Daytona USA (1995) also runs too fast in 60hz. One of my Saturn's is on a Commodore 1084ST Amiga Monitor and when I change to 60hz I get even bigger borders in NTSC than PAL haha! 60hz displays less and the screen correctly shows this. Good job it comes with screen adjustments so and can stretch it to fill the whole screen, either mode. BTW Micha, if your thinking 60hz will make Hi-Octane run much smoother it won't. Your still get 5-10fps when it gets busy as I already tried it. The only way to get this game to run much faster and smoother is to drop the amount of AI cars. Do the first track in a "single race" with 1 AI car and seen how crazy fast the game runs at then in 50hz!

Ok, well I honestly haven't noticed anything wrong when playing my PAL games. And black bars aren't really a problem on the 42" LCD screen I use. I guess it could be annoying on a small TV. I dunno It is not a big problem to most people, I'm just picky when it comes to stuff like correct aspect ratio and speed . back in the 90's I only had pal games for my saturn, no 60hz switch whatsoever and I didn't knew about the pal/ntsc differences then. But now I find that pure 60hz (not pal forced in 60hz) games are a smoother experience then 50hz pal optimized games. let alone all those unoptimized pal games. This is also noticable for me in wipeout and wipeout 2097/xl, the jpn versions are just a smoother experience imo A lot of pal games which seem to run ok in 60hz also have some glitches; Galactick attack for example, when forced in 60hz and playing level 4, when you reach the part where the ground breaks open underneath you, the ground textures partly disapears. When playing the japanese version this doesn't occur. Skip to 6:20, It's not my video btw. www.youtube.com/watch?v=7vSMCGhG1wA
