It's certainly a very desirable notion. As is the idea of a fanzine. Maybe a book would be a bit ambitious?

If you are familiar with the software and are creative it is no problem. I am just pricing a run of 50 A4 (100gsm glossy) 150pg with cover bindings. It will probably work out at about £35 per unit. This will be strictly for fans and very high quality. If there were further interest, no probs to print more. This is something I will be doing in my spare time , even so it will not take more than 3-5 months, less if people pitch in. If people are willing to contribute written pieces and decent photography, that is 50% of the job done.

The closest I ever came to documenting Sega's history was last year when my college ICT class asked us to create 5 minute long presentations that we had to show off to the rest of the group. We could choose any subject, so I chose Sega. Mine quickly turned from a short 5 minute piece into an epic 15 minute extravaganza filled with images, music & and even short gameplay videos for each of the systems which I captured and edited myself! Needless to say the tutors were gobsmacked! ;D **EXTREME SMUGNESS**

It's not a book, but over at Eidolon's Inn/Sega Base they have long, in depth articles about Sega's systems that wouldn't be out of place in a book. I highly recommend these to anyone who wants to learn about Sega's consoles and the company's past, along with all the trials and tribulations that they went through throughout their various eras. The Saturn one in particular is really good. Perhaps you could even print them out to read like a book if you wanted.

Well mick, I have resigned myself to re-writing the history of sega in my own words, what I really need are super high quality images of key games and consoles....... I have a few already but this book will cover all territories and I have only jp stuff mainly. Also I will need some anecdotes from a fans perspective.......A few original quotes or maybe interviews with key figures at sega would also be a boon, I don't want to replicate anything that has gone before, no point.......

The SEGA Consumer & Arcade History books are for sale on jap-sai.com I believe jap-sai.com/Games/Sega/Sega.htmSuperb reference / gallery book from Famitsu featuring a detailed and comprehensive overview of Sega's arcade heritage, with over 432 titles featured. A5 format, 210 pages, full colour. Second Sega History book from Famitsu, this time covering all of Sega's consumer releases, from the SG-1000 to the Dreamcast. 306 pages, full colour. $150 US for both is damn pricey (especially when they are not in English) but I think I will go for it. I love me some SEGA books.

I have the Sega arcade and home books, I was fortunate to buy them new while on holiday donkeys ago. I don't know if I would pay $150 for them but they are fantastic. There are a few interviews but the focus is very much on the games and hardware. Every page is in full colour except for the index and all soft lists.
