I can resist no longer. I'm going to get it but I'm wondering what's a fair price these says?
If anyone on here wants to sell it to me to save potentially getting ripped on eScum, we can talk.
Ditto the above for Thunderforce 5 too.

RSG, complete... I'm afraid you're easily looking at around the £100+ mark. You can get it for considerably cheaper IF you're willing to forgo the Spine & Registration Card etc. Cheapest you're looking at is probably £70ish if you're a lucky boy! As for TFV (my fave of the two), you're looking at around the £50 mark for the non-SE version. It's £70 - £80+ for the Special Edition! Again, the less 'complete', the cheaper they are

You're a few days late Rossi, I sold mine this week complete with spine and reg in mint condition for £95 delivered. On eBay you are probably looking £120+ for one in that condition.
I'm not sure on the condition on my Thunder Force V, but send me a PM, I might be willing to sell it.

I think on Saturn, its a £100-mark game.
I don't think it's at all worth it though, considering (imo) there are 15+ better shooters on the Saturn which are better, and cheaper.

That is just opinion though, for many folks it's the best shooter on the system bar none. Complaints against it usually go along the lines of "oh it's too difficult to 1CC because you have to keep chaining" or similar, but the game offers so many different ways to play and hone your strategy you could really enjoy it for years before even attempting a 1CC run. RSG was an arcade game originally and so is designed to be brutal especially towards the end.
Having said that, I do prefer the Xbox 360 version (with a Saturn to 360 pad arrangement) purely for the more polished visuals. Though if you have a CRT the Saturn version has less input lag of course.

I prefer your more standard play through a level and meet a boss at the end affair. RSG is basically a collection of boss fights. I also hate the music. It sounds like church stuff to me.

I think I've made it well known here but I'll repeat that I love the game. There might be a couple of shooters I like more on the Saturn but certainly not 15. And seeing this gorgeous game run on the much maligned Saturn is a sight to behold. Treasure truly went above and beyond on this game. I don't regreat at all the $140 I spent on it a few years ago.

Depends why you are buying the game. If it is to play, then there are a lot of other shmups to consider before putting the money down. If it is to collect then it has to be up near the very top of the list.

I'd love to know what churches you go to ^^ Nothing is more subjective than music tastes, but to give the game it's due even if you don't like the music it is at least memorable. Compared to say, Battle Garegga, a fine game no doubt but with an utterly weedy soundtrack (apart from the little opening jingle perhaps ) Personally I love the music and think it suits the apocalyptic theme of the game really well and I couldn't think of a better mach for the desperate tone of the game. Indeed even looking at it from a purely collectors stance, this is a historically significant video game and one that is a great addition to anyone's collection. It's one of a kind and sadly the kind of utterly hardcore experience that we rarely see nowadays outside of a select few indie titles.

Manabu Namiki's soundtracks is nothing less than excellent for Garegga. Stop being such a passive aggressive. It gets tiresome after a while, Bucko...

It seems to be a bit of a love it or hate it game. I am with Mancity, I really never liked the game much, I just owned it as a collection piece. I have no doubt it is a great game if you get into it, I just never could.

I'm not honestly, all the hours I've spent playing that I couldn't hum you a single of the tunes other than the title jingle, but yes, music = subjective.
