So I was playing Magic Knight Rayearth tonight and I got to an area where the music sounded very FM Synth like. It reminded me a lot of Genesis music. So I was wondering if anyone (Most likely zyrobs) knows if this is a known game that uses the FM Synth capabilities of the SCSP?
The song in question was this one:

How's the playthrough thus far?
I've always contemplated trying this game but for some reason 2D Zelda style games tend to..turn me off.

I'm glad I grabbed my copy when they were going for $30-40. Great little Action RPG that I still enjoy having a run through every few years. I especially love how they corrected all the problems with the anime series plot (e.g. "Oh, I just happen to be the princess's amnesiac brother, not that that will ever be at all relevant to the story.")

I got mine from Synbios for $125 when he was selling his spare copies. I'd say that's the fair going price. It is the last US release after all.
And yes VirtuaMuser, that is the real script.

I'm glad you're enjoying it!
It was one of those games I was skeptical of that turned out to be a lot of fun.

Pretty sure Puyo Puyo 2 uses FM synth. It kinda sounds worse than the MD version though, like they didn't put as much effort into it.

I totally want a copy of this but no PAL release, and I don't want to start picking up US titles due to those jewel cases being so fragile, and they need to be sent overseas most of the time >.<
I might get a Japanese copy, and just keep a script with me for the game but that can sometimes get tedious.

Generally speaking games that don't use cd audio use the internal music chips.
Pretty much all of the ST-V ports do this, and Blast Wind is another.

I don't think many games use pure PCM or pure FM. 99% of the time it's a combination of both.

The majority of the time it's either pure MIDI using PCM samples, CD Audio, or compressed audio streams (ADX, ADPCM, etc.).
