Eternal Champions was one of the few beat-em-up's I actually enjoyed outside of SF2............and someone told me it has a Saturn sequel???
Can't seem to find anything about it.........did it have a different name? as I wouldn't mind tracking it down!

I've never heard of a sequel Although I personally did not enjoy the game at all, all I'm aware of are the MD and MCD versions?

On the first Saturn console boxes, on the back there was a picture of it, but the game never came out. It was just a CG image of one of the female characters faces.
I wonder why it was canceled, I was excited for it, but never received it. They were probably going to go 3d with it but couldn't make anything playable enough. The image is definitely a 3d CGI look, like the Cinekills.
Wikipedia has this to say... "Two years later a sequel Eternal Champions: Challenge From The Dark Side (sometimes known as 'Eternal Champions CD') was released for Sega's ill-fated Genesis 'add-on' the Sega Mega-CD, and a final title Eternal Champions: The Final Chapter was advertised for the Sega Saturn but the game was cancelled shortly after beginning production. The Final Chapter was cancelled in order to push Virtua Fighter in the US."

Saturn version was never finished because SEGA were concentrating on their 3D fighters by then. I loved Eternal Champions. It had a seperate energy bar for special moves (Simmilar to the one on new release Bleach), and some decent characters. The mega CD sequal was the best version of the game. In truth there wasn't enough new to it to call it a proper sequel, but it played a little better than the original. Both copies come up for sale on Genki every now and again.

I learned yesterday while I visited wiki that EC: CD was a sequel...*while I read it* What? I had no idea, I think the only thing that was added where a bunch of fatalities, other then that it's the same game...SF2 to SF2:CE evolved more.
All in all quality game, if I had a friend that would play it I would say it is easily a good reason to own a Mega CD.

Eternal Champions: Challenge from the darkside is a great game, its got a fantastic intro, Loads of new characters and backgrounds, a brilliant soundtrack and the fatalitys are really cool. It is also one of the few games to break the Mega-CD's 64 colour pallette, with 256 on screen at once apparently. the only problem is the game is very very tough!

Oh dear, played this last night, think I may have been looking at it through rose tinted specs. Still playable, but no where near as good as I was imagining it to have been. Still think it was better than Mortal Kombat though.

I never played it first time around, I just bought it one day from a Cash Converters, took it home, plugged in and thought "lol wut?".
My reaction was pretty much the same with the MK games, although I did play them first time around.

I did play Eternal Champions the first time round and loved it, i still hold a high appreciation for it, i think it was a very underlooked and ignored game at the time because of MK (which is nowhere near as good IMO)

I enjoyed the original EC but I've not had a chance to play the MCD one. I think I'd like it. Although the MD versions difficulty drove me to frustration at times!

Mortal Kombat II was great, then just went down hill after that, the high point for the entire series.
Eternal Champions was hard! Bought that game new with my pocket money back in the day, and I think I broke a Megadrive pad by throwing it to the ground playing that game, think it made me cry! Fucking hated that game when i was younger!
