Hi all, I'm Nick. Long-time gamer, quite the Saturn fan. Give me a pad and Sega Rally and I'm pretty much set for however long you need to keep me quiet, but don't expect me not to sneak a quick King Of Fighters match in when I feel like it. I've got most of the good PAL games, and I'm in the early stages of building a Japanese collection.
Outside of games... there is no outside of games, I write for Retro Gamer for a living! I do other stuff like play card games and watch comedy, but a lot of my life is gaming.

Hey Nick welcome to the community! I agree with Brad, writing for retro gamer sounds like a sick gig. Outside of Rally and KOF what are some of your other favourite games?

Retro Gamer Magazine is fantastic, I've just ordered a 6 month subscription - you guys do a great job. If not, then still hi!

Cheers for the warm welcome, guys! Other games... it's mostly the usual suspects - Fighters Megamix, Virtua Cop 2, NiGHTS, Burning Rangers, Street Fighter Alpha 2 and the like. I do have a soft spot for The Story Of Thor 2, despite it being a bit less good than the Mega Drive original. Overall, I'll play more or less anything but I tend to gravitate towards arcade games and action games, which goes some way to explaining why I like the Saturn and Sega consoles in general. Haha, I've never been the Nick Thorpe before - I usually fall in the pecking order behind the older, more serious writers - but yes, that's me. Glad you're enjoying the mag, the last year has been a real rollercoaster but I can't imagine doing anything else now.

There is a lot to like about The Story of Thor 2. It's certainly not one of my favorites, but the animation makes my jaw drop whenever I've popped the game in. It's just so unbelievably fluid. Anyway, welcome to the boards! Retro Gamer is a beautifully done magazine. I've got to get a subscription one of these days.
