Hi there, I'm a 27 year old guy from the North West and I was fortunate enough to recieve a mint condition Saturn this Christmas.
The Saturn was the console I always wanted as a kid, but never got around to buying one as an adult. It's also one of two consoles I've never owned that have been released since the Master System until now - the other one being a GameCube.
Currently, I only have four games at the minute (two football ones (not by choice), Resident Evil and Quake), but I plan to focus on soley collecting for the Saturn this year.
Anyway, I look forward to speaking with you all.

Hi hxwk,
Welcome to the community. I've only just recently joined myself and am from the midlands, well on the border with the northwest (nr Congleton).
Well done on getting a mint saturn, they are becoming more collectable each year. Sounds like you have quite a collection of consoles, saving the best till last hey (and I don't mean the gamecube lol)
What's your favourite console and game?

Hi Tony, thanks! Agreed on saving the best 'til last (also referring to the Saturn lol). What's your favourite console and game? Now there's a question... that I don't think I can answer! They say a console is only as good as the games that were released for it and my favourite games span multiple generations. I generally say my top five games in no order are - FF7 (I know, I know) ES:3 - Morrowind Maniac Mansion Dark Souls (I did play Demon Souls when that first came out, but Dark Souls just improved on so much) Silent Hill I'm hoping I'll be able to add a Saturn game to that list in the not too distant future What about yourself? Are you able to pin down your favourite console and game?

Good point, a system is only as good as it's games but I also look at what a system brings to the industry and if it felt like a step forward. So, on that note my fave system is the Dreamcast closely followed by the Saturn of course, Dreamcast because of its innovations and the Saturn for its games.
For the games. Again in no order.
Sega Rally Resident Evil Code Veronica Trials HD Doom (I have way too many copies of that game) Starwing (although I don't actually own it)
If I'm honest my top five probably change daily but those games will always be near the top.

Welcome to the boards! Resident Evil and Quake are good Saturn games to start with (though a bit too much doom-and-gloom, maybe). The Saturn actually has some great football games, too, so I'd try those out if I were you.

Yeah, it does feel rather gloomy playing RE and Quake, especially so with the early dark nights and the constant cold at the minute. We're going to a Retro Gaming market next weekend (on the 7th in Leeds) so hopefully I'll be bringing back a boat-load of Saturn games - ones a bit more cheery! Being new to the console I'm currently looking for titles that many of you on here will have bought a long time ago, but I'd like to find Sonic R, Virtua Fighter 2 or Megamix, Panzer Dragoon, Croc and the Discworld games. I've also seen Deep Fear and Enemy Zero that look really good. Also, Mansion of Hidden Souls seems quite interesting. Hoping to get an Action Replay cart too for imports, currently trying to learn Japanese to be able to play imports easier, but it's no mean feat.

Cool, we're going to the retro event in leeds on the 7th too. Looking for some specific saturn games in plastic dvd style cases and maybe a couple of dreamcast games. I'm expecting an expensive weekend!

I'm expecting an expensive weekend! Awesome, maybe we'll bump in to each other where all the Saturn games are! Did you go to last year's event? I only found out about it recently because there was an advert for it in the latest Retro Gamer mag. I expect an expensive weekend too, well, it's going to be an expensive month for me because unfortunatly my car service and MOT is also due in Feb -_-

When I saw the event, I was surprised by how close it was to me, good stuff like this never seems to happen 'round here - not that I know of anyway.

No, I didn't go last year as like you I've only become aware of the event via the latest retro gamer mag. It's an expensive money indeed as I also need an mot and tax on my car. See you at the Saturn section fella .
