So I like to have my high-scores saved for all my games, to keep track of my own progress. Anyway, I've noticed that Gekirindan is not saving my high scores to either the system or the back-up cart.
Does anyone know why this is? or how to fix it?
thanks!

Are you sure that the game allows you to save high scores? Many Saturn games don't.

Many Saturn games don't. so far, with all of my other shmups, they've all saved. so it's possible it just won't save my scores, but I find it weird that it makes me put in my initials everytime if it wasn't going to save it.. But I'm not 100% sure either way lol

I put this in last night and I can't find any option settings to change that. I looked up posts on this game at Shmups.system11.org and they also mention the lack of saving. As far as the game goes, I've always thought it was just ok. Not bad. A bit of slowdown. But nothing spectacular either.

I suppose I'll just have to keep snapping pictures of my high scores with my phone then haha As for the quality, I sort of agree. I bought it for $85 USD so I was expecting it to be spectacular, but it's just okay. Not to say I don't like it, because it is really fun. I'm just not sure is was $85 fun..

Taito handed it off to a company called JAMP rather than doing it themselves or giving it to the always reliable VING.

It'll pause itself to load new enemies every here and there. What other ports has JAMP done?

Yeah, it's also got a weird scrolling issue (camera tracks down if your ship flies to the bottom of the screen) and does away with the cool-looking seamless stage transitions. I'd recommend either playing it in MAME or grabbing the Taito Legends 2 collection. They were responsible for a lot of garbage on the Saturn. Quiz games, TV-license games, idol games, etc. The more noteworthy stuff: Mechanical Violator Hakaider - A light gun shooter. On about the same level as Crypt Killer... The Unsolved - An adventure game that I think was meant to be some sort of X-Files parody. Uses American actors and everything. Cutscenes are in English but the actual game itself is Japanese. JSWAT - Hilariously bad FPS. Your field of view in narrowed down to a tiny rectangle "meant" to mimic your sightline from a helmet.

I never knew we got Gekirindan in english!

EDIT: Dang! I just looked it up, and it's not even JP exclusive! I never knew we got Gekirindan in english! Yep. Also, it runs at full screen (vert letterbox) on the PAL/NTSC collections too, which is always preferable for me. Although, I don't mind the scrolling full-screen versions either (i.e. Gekirindan, Batsugun, Tiger 2 Plus etc)

Also, just to note, Darius Gaiden on Saturn doesn't save your high-scores either. Thought I'd mention it

I don't have a T.V. set up to do TATE, so I really like games that use the full screen for gameplay (not letterbox)
