Hi people of Saturn! I made an account just for this post, anyways I recently installed the V3 modchip from sega style and my model 2 NTSC Saturn plays official games flawlessly. Only issue is, I've burned 7 discs so far using Darkwater's bin/cues from isozone and imgburn at 2X speed on verbatim CD-Rs, (and yes, I used the sega region patcher) and they all work fine except for after a few minutes of play, the soundtrack of each game glitches up, stops, then the system tries to play the music again but fails. I tried all versions of sega rally, duke nukem 3D, Nights into dreams, and Saturn bomberman.. The only game I have successfully burned without this music issue is Astal, so this might rule out the possibility that the verbatim discs are no good or the burning method I'm using is wrong.
Please help me out with this!! Anyone have any ideas what this might be? I'll be happy to clarify things that I forgot to mention
Thanks

Have you tried cleaning the laser lens? Use isopropyl alcohol with some q-tips.
I personally believe to only rip and burn games you own, and many view downloading games you don't own a no-no. If you own these games, good. If you don't, to me, it's your prerogative and I'm not going to hold it against you.
But personal feelings aside, for me, it really doesn't matter what speed I burn at nor what discs I use, nor what speeds I rip at.
I've only had one coaster in like 150 burn attempts. I don't have 150 games, but I've returned some games because I've changed the artwork on the CD face a ton of times.
But what may really be happening is that your Laser assembly (pickup) is dying. The laser has an easier time reading a pressed official CD. Burned CD-Rs don't have as defined pits and grooves. A dying laser will progressively get worse and worse.
Why not just pick up a new Laser pickup like an Optima-6s and see if that helps. You can get one for $17 or so on eBay or $10 if you're patient from Aliexpress.
Your drive could also do something with it. Try burning with a different drive.

Did you verify the burned discs? Also try burning at the speed the discs are rated for. I've never had much success burning 8x or faster rated discs at 1x/2x .
