I've not touched my copy for an age, the same folks that did the English translation for the PS1 were supposed to be working on a Saturn translation.
Either way its a lovely set I agree, I love anything that comes with art books.

Indeed. The artbook with it is really nice.

Understood, if you're a fan of the game in general, I can see this being a beauty.
As someone on the sidelines, it all looks really nice, regardless...

The link below is a thread where they are working on a US translation for Saturn. As you can see Ive been bumping it every so often forums.junkerhq.net/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=3010&sid=c564782f32c9efb23037fec5b7896a5c&start=100Im kinda weird about Policenauts. I RREALLLY want to play it but Ive been holding out to experience the superior Saturn version. It upset me alot to hear how close this was to being released in the United States, only to be cancelled because of the programmers not being able to sync the mouths with the dubbing. Such a silly thing! They even advertised a US box art in Sega Saturn promo flyers inside certain games and in GamePro ads.

The art work looks like a merge of two classic games that were released by Namco & Taito... Those two games being Rolling Thunder 2 & Chase HQ.

Such a silly thing! That's what comes of gamers making complaints like "this version only runs at 20 frames per second when the original ran at 30 frames per second!"

I think the thing that irks me the most is that Konami and Kojima had some of the best programmers around yet they let something as silly as non syncing dub ruin a US localization. Although I guess its possible that the syncing was so far off that it would have taken a ton of time. Without knowing for sure. However simply doing subtitles instead of dub would have worked just fine as many games have done this. Although had this actually been released over here (and it was supposed to have stunner support, possibly bundled with it) youd probably be paying $500 for a copy anyhow.

20FPS and 30FPS is a huge gap. You lost 33% of your framerate. That's 33% less responsiveness to an already 50% loss of responsiveness you can get on an NTSC monitor.
No. In this case, it's gamers potentially making complaints like "Wow Bruce's voice is being heard during the time his wife is moving her lips LOL" or "Why are they still talking? The scene ended 20 seconds ago." Don't you love it when you watch a movie or a show and the audio goes out of sync with the video? I think that's a legitimate complaint ANYONE would have.
I wish it got translated to English though. I really enjoy Snatcher. Would have loved another!! That limited edition is really nice. Though I do chuckle everytime I see "GET THE SOFT!"

What happened to the ware? Also, the PS1 version is translated, although apparently the Saturn version has some more scenes.

I RREALLLY want to play it but Ive been holding out to experience the superior Saturn version. If I'm not mistaken the PSX version is visually superior, in particular the FMV sequences but it lacks lightgun support. Not really an issue though as there are only about 5 shooting sections outside of the firing range.

Although I don't own it, I may as well throw this version into the mix as well... - - policenauts.net/3domouseimages.htmlDedicated website, but I've linked specifically to the 3DO version here. The menu on the left allows you to click on the individual components (as links) to view each part individually. No doubt this will apply to other versions on the site too.

I always forgot this was on 3DO over there. If they had brought it west (although likely similar syncing issues) it would have given the library quite a boost.

Policenauts didn't do much for the 3DO in Japan. Also, it was released in September 1995, so if you add on the time it would take to localize a game with such extensive cutscenes, it would have been one of the last 3DO games released in the West. And the 3DO library was hardly lacking in sci fi interactive movie games: The Daedalus Encounter, Hell: A Cyberpunk Thriller, Flashback, Creature Shock, Wing Commander III, Space Pirates, Cyberia, Robinson's Requiem, etc., etc.
