Thank you for reminding me how much we need some sort of "Like" button on here. There used to be one. I liked it. What happened to it? But sure, we could use a new/another one, if the provision exists?

I picked this up cheaply today and was pleasantly surprised. The game offers quite a lot of fun and variety. I enjoyed Die Harder the most. Despite the shoddy frame rate, it was lots of fun and up there with the Virtua Cop games, especially since it offers more variety and options in game. The levels are much more detailed and action-packed too. Die Hard was fun although I couldn't help thinking it would have played better if it was in first-person perspective. And Die Hard With a Vengeance was okay, and reminiscent of the GTA games, albeit with less freedom. SSM gave the game 91%, calling it "Three terrific action games for the price of one. One of the best movie-licence games to hit the Saturn" in issue #17 What do people here think of the game? How does it compare with the much more expensive PS1 version? the ps1 version is rare? seriously? never played it on saturn but appearantly it was a TERRIBLE port. ps1 version is great

Nah, it's dirt cheap on either system. The Saturn version is still a fun game, just suffers from slowdown a lot.

The PlayStation version is superior in every aspect. Looks better and feels more responsive. The Saturn version is quite clunky but still lots of fun!

Bump!
Was thinking about this game the other day and something occurred to me… is Die Hard With A Vengeance the first ever 3D open world driving game?

Well it depends how you define it (Crimwave was technically 3d, was a driving game, in a city, and was open-ended). But I can't think of any other where you controlled the car in first person, and it modelled an actual city with functioning traffic and pedestrians, that was available in 1996. The closest is maybe Carmageddon from 1997. The ones with accurate models of cities started becoming a thing in 1999 with Driver and Midtown Madness.

I always had Interstate 76 as the 1st time I saw a 3D open world driving game along with LA Riders in the Arcades

Sega Lord X did a new review about that game www.youtube.com/watch?v=-wqrgmIy5aQI am really glad that I have seen it. I was about the get game for the Saturn but now I am going for the Ps1 version because it seems to be much better. Die Hard Triology the game itself looks really fun though. Cannot wait to play it.

Yeah the Saturn version was a dog’s dinner compared to the PlayStation.
Die Hard has huge glass windows which obviously suffer from the typical transparency issues. To hide pop-in the background is black against the grey foreground, PlayStation blends this together with shading, the Saturn has the huge squares crawling along the floor instead. Models and textures seem somewhat blockier too.
Die Harder is a complete mess in terms of frame rate. Texture resolution seems lower on Saturn too.
Die Hard with a Vengeance actually isn’t too bad on Saturn.

I remember all three being very difficult and the frame rate making it hard work. Must've been sub 10fps a lot of the time.
I also remember using the light gun on Die Harder. When you started using the machine guns you could barely see anything with the screen flashing so often.

I bought the game for my Sega Saturn. Had a lot of fun with it, especially with the action replay codes, free roaming in the driving section with infinite clock time. After a while I was able to buy a second-hand Playstation cheaply and that included a few games with Die Hard Trilogy, I thought; I've played it before. Exchanged it for another second-hand game at the local shop. Never thought of keeping the best version then . A little later I showed the game on the Sega Saturn to a friend and he said why I didn't go for the Playstation version, because it is much better .

The PS version had a better frame rate and smoother graphics, but ultimately it's the same game. You didn't miss out on a life changing experience 🤣
