Have a new laptop - Windows 8.1, i7, Nvidia GPU. Its got great specs and came with directx 11. Now the two versions of SSF I used on my other laptop (Windows 7) won't work. Does anyone have any idea what I can do, or what I need to download or update in order for the graphics to show properly? (I do hear sound, and I can set the options... that's it)
Any help would be immensely appreciated!

That I am aware of, Windows 8.1 has horrible compatibility with SSF. It worked fine for me a while back, but a recent update to the OS ruined the configuration tool and you can not really do a whole lot with it anymore unless you have a prior configuration saved from earlier.

Got it; I feared as much. Huge thank you for the reply notshane (great username)!
Any idea how well SSF - any version - currently fares in Windows 10? I'd actually be willing to take Microsoft up on that free upgrade they're always pushing, if its compatible...

Copy and paste from the other thread:
I had no issues whatsoever with SSF on Windows 8 or after the 8.1 update, did nothing special when running it. Still no issues now after updating to 10.
This sounds a lot more like some kind of compatibility issue with something in the system.
Bearing in mind 8 has been out 3 years and these are the first two threads suggesting that SSF has an issue with 8...

Hmm... since you didn't have any problems before updating your OS, there's a chance switching to Windows 10 won't resolve my issue. It could be something else altogether; I just haven't the faintest idea what. I've been able to run multiple versions of SSF smoothly on much less beefy computers, using Windows 7 and even XP.
I'll triple check to ensure I have the latest version of direct X runtime. Beyond that, I'll try 10 out. Either way, now that I see how uncommon a problem this is, I won't bother you all with it. I'm generally not keen on giving up, so I'm pretty confident a solution can and will be found to this. Thanks for the suggestions and information!
