I've started playing SS and.... boy, this game is challenging. Admittedly it's probably harder for me as the version I picked up is entirely in French (from a Spanish shop??). I'm on the Mer Noire, which I assume is the Black Sea and I keep failing. Aside from dying too many times, my first problem was the submarines. I figured out what to do, but those crates you drop on them are really far - making it pretty tight, time-wise. I FINALLY did it and then I failed because the second big ship (a Dreadnought, perhaps?) you blow up has a Strike Agent in it and I must have killed him. I got annoyed and just turned it off for now. I'll try again later Anyway, what do you guys think of the game? Despite the difficulty, I think it's pretty fun. It controls well, and looks pretty nice too. It would be nice to be able to save mid mission (even if only once!) because the levels take ages to beat, but I guess I'll just have to "git gud", as they say. It's really cheap too. My copy was mint condition and it only cost a few quid. When I am next in England I think I'll try and get hold of the English CD. I don't need a box or anything since that's already in English, for some reason.

Love the Strike series! I grew up playing it alot on Genesis. That to me was the prime of the series. Dessert Strike, Jungle Strike and Urban Strike.
Soviet Strike kept the same style (3/4th overhead) which is awesome. For some reason I havent got around to playing alot of Soviet for Saturn yet but its realistically the most advanced version. Nuclear Strike which was Playstation and N64 also pushed the polygons on the series pretty well. One weird reason I never played Soviet Strike alot as a kid on Saturn is actually a sorta dumb reason. I used to rent games like Black Fire and Shellshock and just assumed Soviet Strike was one of those cockpit view shooters. I never knew it was the same as the Genesis versions (wouldnt have been hard to look at the back of the box but I was kinda dumb sometimes when I was 12 lol).
The trademark to the series is certainly its difficulty which adds to the enjoyment. Of course I was more patient as a kid so who knows now.
There was a Sega CD/Megadrive Strike compilation set for release but it got cancelled back in the day. Would have had all 3 of the MD/Genesis Strike games on 1 CD. Would have loved that on the Saturn.

Cost minimal, even if not to just bring some of the Genesis people on board. Like you said you could have done Streets of Rage easily... but even Vectorman 1-2 pack with maybe Sonic CD thrown on it. Road Rash 1-3. Konami could have done a Contra Hard Corps. / Castlevania Blood Lines double pack! Updated 2D graphics... I digress.

Just realised... - - ...could have had this YEARS ago as MegaCD compilation too Would have been worth a FORTUNE today though!

Funny, I was saying the other day that Treasure should make a collection of their hits. They have some great games, including some rare / obscure titles that maybe people haven't played. Didn't know it existed

Well, I don't have a PS2 but I think I have a lot of the main games on my Everdrive 64 / Mega Everdrive anyway. Once I pick up Silhouette Mirage and Guardian Heroes, I think I'm pretty much sorted for Treasure games

Thats a nice little set with Dynamite Heady too.
Even in the PS2 era, Sega never brought any of those awesome Sega Ages titles here.

That Sega Ages OutRun for PS2 is neat, but as for Virtua Racing what a let down. It looks the part, almost sounds the part bar the fucked up engine sound yet the thing that really killed it was the handling. If you thought Saturn V.R was bad then think again as the car does not want to steer unlike the arcade machine which could cut corners like a knife through butter... A real shame any way.

Normally PAL games supported more than one language out of the box and why our manuals are crap as you could have 3 languages on the same sodding page. Maybe it was released later once the translation had been done for Saturn? I've never played the French version any way so guessing. Maybe the French FMV would not fit the same disc as the file size was now bigger in Saturn form than PS1? Who knows...
