I don't mean the interior, I mean the exterior. I've never cleaned a console before. I got this Saturn a little at the end of last year for free and the dust/dirt has always bugged me on it, and since I'm recently getting more into collecting for my Saturn, I want to make it look nice. Any tips on what I should use to clean all the dust out of the cracks and stuff without damaging stuff on the inside? (Like liquids accidentally leaking in if that is a choice) It looks so nasty and I want to make it look presentable. Not like 100% new but, much better than this.

Crikey has someone been playing that in the garden?? I'd just use a damp (NOT wet) soft cloth to remove the bulk of the dirt then a different soft duster with a small amount of all purpose polish (Mr sheen) to get it looking shiny. Works a treat on plastics. Obviously avoid getting polish on the laser lens and any electronics. You might want to use a cotton bud or even a knife to get grime out of small gaps and cracks.
I recently had to clean a second hand controller that someone had clearly been using while eating. Disgusting. The above worked well.

Yeah I have no idea what the previous owner did to the poor thing The Saturn was free anyway. Thanks for the help! I'll make sure to do that to make this Saturn more presentable!

Cleaning the case: If the case is bad, (as in dirty rather than dusty) all over which includes the base then I would strip all the electronics out so your left with just the shell... The top half of the case can be taken apart into it's individual components which is easy enough to do. Once anything metal has been removed put all the plastic parts in to hot water and using something like a nail brush put some Flash Liquid on it and scrub all the crap off. Repeat and rinse until clean, use a tooth brush in tight areas and even cotton buds can aid in this. With the plastic being warm from a hot water rinse it will dry a lot quicker over all than using cold. Allow time for all screw holes and small gaps to dry ect properly, use cotton buds again in tight areas to aid in drying. www.tesco.com/groceries/product/details/?id=278213927

It's not perfect, but it's loads better than what is used to look like: The gunk in the bottom just didn't want to get out, and same with the little holes at the top. But it's better than nothing Thanks for the cleaning tips, guys!

It's strange but I always find that computer & console gear magically feels as if it's running better after a clean. It's like a reward for putting the effort in. Looking miles better than it was any way!
