We got them individually on Xbox too I always see Europeans complain they get left out on a lot of releases over the years - there is one example right there where it worked out To be fair, that's usually levied at 'us' not receiving the a localised version from Japan as opposed to US releases. I'm sure there are instances, but I know of very few off the top of my head. Feel free to educate!

Yeah that's what I meant, the localizations from Japan. I assume that has more to do with said localization companies sometimes only publishing in the US (going all the way back to Working Designs)
I assume with MEtal Slug Microsoft threw down some $ for exclusive US rights

In the Hunt could be a such enjoyable game if only the saturn port had not been coded with the ass... Moreover, no highscores save...unforgivable
So metal Slug

In The Hunt moves at snails pace even in 60hz. interesting. I booted my Japanese copy on Japanese M1 console and didn't see any issue? One thing I did find odd was the game didn't load when the Sega 1MB RAM Cart was in but fine with the cart removed...

In The Hunt isn't a Ram expansion game so it would never work with a 1MB Ram cart inserted.

These two games have a very similar feel to them (I think they're made by the same people, but I could be wrong), but which is better? ITH seems more unique, due to it being based underwater; however, I hear the framerate is somewhat choppy. What are your guys thoughts on the two? Which plays better / is more fun? I'm drawn towards ITH, but I think Slug may be have more variation. Also, maybe this is a false dichotomy. From what I've seen, those seem to be the only games with that kinda of style... but maybe there are others that not only do something similar, but do it better. I'd love to hear your thoughts! Ex-Irem employees went off to form Nazca, the creators of Metal Slug. Another game by Irem that is VERY similar to Metal Slug is Gunforce II. Check it out. Even a lot of the same sound effects, and super smooth animation in places. It's even got vehicles and hostage rescuing. Totally a prototype for the series they'd later make.
