So I got a North American Model 2 Sega Saturn for Christmas last year, never had a problem with it. The other day I received Sonic R in the mail and was playing it for about an hour (lol, don't judge!) when suddenly the game paused itself. Thinking the controller was having a poor connection, I unplugged the controller and plugged it back in. But the game was frozen, and after a few seconds went to a black screen. I thought perhaps the game had crashed, so I powered the system off and on again only to find that just the power LED would illuminate, and nothing would appear on the TV nor would the disc spin. I tried using different power cables, but that had no effect. Sometimes instead of a black screen, a screen of a random color would show up or sometimes a bunch of colored lines. Today, I took the entire thing apart. I have no real knowledge of electronics, but wanted to see if anything looked out of the ordinary. After thorough inspection, I put it back together and it worked... for about 5 minutes. Then it did the same thing where only the LED would illuminate. So I tinkered some more, and got it to work for about 10 minutes until it quit again. After leaving the power switch on, while repeatedly unplugging the system and plugging it back in, I got it to work once more for about 20 minutes which is the longest it has stayed on since it started acting up. However there seemed to be a bit of scrambled text on the time here:
It is just one strange thing after another. Every time I would set the date and time, the console would restart and have me do it again. Here, after I set the date/time and select "EXIT", the screen flickers for a second, and then freezes. I don't know what else I can do. I love my Saturn and I do not want it to die!
