Hello anyone who reads this,
I just wanted to put up a post saying hello to the community! It's really nice to see that a website like this is still being used and hasn't fallen into hibernation.
I've never played nor owned a Sega Saturn, which obviously may seem absurd to some of you, but I do have a lot for (for lack of a better word) Retro Consoles.
I have recently been getting back into my collecting of black label PSX games, and one of them was Exhumed.
I've been absolutely loving the game and I read online that the Sega Saturn version was by far the most superior.
That led me to doing a bit of digging about the Saturn, and led me here.
I am really interested in possibly getting my hands on a nice PAL Saturn at some point and collecting some games that are superior or exclusive to that console.
Anyway, that's my pointless explanation of why I'm here, maybe see you in the forums some time.

Greetings, Just in case you have not seen it, here is a video covering the history of Lobotomy Software. It's very, very good but note it's 1 hour long! I have both and while the Saturn version is the better one, the PS1 version is just as enjoyable in it's own right! What your get from it more so on Saturn are the changes that you will see! In some areas on PS1 they added walls and stuff, (maybe to help with the frame rate) while on Saturn that same place might be an open space looking into the distance instead. The changes here and there are enough to keep you interest all the way and that's also true if you play the Saturn one first and then go to PS1 Exhumed. From the video your also see Duke Nukem 3D and Quake for Saturn, both were ported to Saturn by Lobo Software and run on updated versions of Saturn Exhumed's graphic engine. If you like your classic first person shooters then add them to your Saturn must haves list as they are also very good!

That really is an excellent video. Lobotomy were definitely one of the most talented Saturn developers, and all of their ports were superior to rival console versions. Saturn Quake even included some dynamic lighting effects not even supported by the PC original.
That video also mentions Death Tank, which was included as an extra with Saturn Exhumed. Mini-game or not, it's one of my top 5 Saturn games. I'd say this alone would be the reason to get Saturn Exhumed, but Duke Nukem has the even better Death Tank Zwei included (though you need a save file of another Lobotomy game to access it - just another great reason to own Saturn Exhumed or Quake!).
Welcome to the forum!

That video also mentions Death Tank, which was included as an extra with Saturn Exhumed. Yeah, sadly that early version of Death Tank was removed from the PAL version of Exhumed and is only found in the NTSC versions. For us in PAL Land we had to wait until Duke Nukem to play it. It auto unlocks if the game detects a PAL Quake save. Or you shoot every toilet in the game or something a long those lines to unlock it instead. If I remember correct, Saturn Quake was released a week after Duke Nukem in PAL Land so we only had to wait 7 days to get Death Tank the easy way.

The save file unlock also worked with an Exhumed save, so Death Tank was playable (the easy way) on day one of Duke's release

Ha! I long forget as I always use Quake to get it back, that's if I've lost my save files or are messing about with one of my spare Saturn's.

I bought my first Saturn a few months ago and would recommend it. Most of the best games are cheap tbh -- as long as you get an action replay 4 in 1 and buy Japanese versions, which have nicer artwork and manuals anyway. For under £100 you could get the above plus four very good exclusive games (e.g. Panzer Dragoon 1&2, Nights, Sega Rally, Virtual On) or Capcom/SNK/AM2 fighting games. Do it
