Well, I've been addicted to The Tower over the past couple of days (especially now I can actually save the game...). I was wondering if there are any other good simulation / management games on the system. Due to the basic 2D setup of the game, The Tower plays really well on console. The only advantage to having the pc version really would be that it would be in English.
What other games have you played on the Saturn that are worth playing? I believe Theme Park is on the Saturn, but that's also on the Megadrive (which I've not played), so may not be worth getting.

Sim City 2000, presumably...

Not quite a simulation but Command and Conquer was the by far the best strategic type game I played back when the Saturn was current.
Sim City and Theme Park, while OK in themselves, run pretty poorly and are a bit awkward to control compared to the PC versions. That reminds me, I used to love Sim City 2000 on PC.. Also Age of Empires.

I thought Theme Park would run alright. It's isometric and is just placing stuff in places. Sim City is a bit more complex so I can understand that running poorly. I may give it a shot though.
I will probably pick up C&C at some point. I got into the series pretty late (RA2) and never tried anything before. I'm always a bit iffy about most console RTS games though.

Winning Post, from what Ive heard is an excellent sports simulation game.
I know SYNC (board member here) is a fan and could probably fill in more details.
I own a copy but have yet to get around to it. It was a huge series with multiple sequels in Japan.
The only English version was released in the US/NA and its a bit pricey if you're looking for a physical copy.

I'll look out for that Derek, thanks! Could be an interesting one. I forgot how much I enjoyed some of these until I played this again. Hopefully today I can finish my Tower and get it uploaded by the weekend

You know what, I think ive got a CD-R of Theme Park some where, from when i bought my Modded console. Will try and have a go and let you know what it's like.

Sim City 2000 is lots of fun but slow. And somehow they managed to make an ugly mess out of the map turn animation. But if you grew to love Sim City from the SNES game, then the Saturn one is just as much fun. I only wish it was playing music continuously, instead of only once or twice.
The Saturn version of the game actually has a bunch of extras... you can get an FMV animation on any building you query, and the game has a "futuristic" tile set integrated into the game, and activated as the game progresses. Those tiles were not in the vanilla PC version for sure, but there are alternate tile sets that have them (presumably that's where they come from originally). You can also build a Sonic statue, but I've never figured out how and I spent a ton of time on the game. It's also missing the Exodus sequence, or at least I couldn't ever get it to show up even when I spent a weekend building a city that largely consisted of rocket arcologies. There's also an extra theme song for the game, completely unique to this port. It's pretty nice.
Command and Conquer is pretty good, but it records your position via passwords and you cannot save your game. The controls are okay, just not as fast as with a keyboard + mouse, but I think you can slow down the game speed to get around that, should you need to micro manage a huge confrontation. But the first CnC game had absurd difficulty and pretty much required you to abuse every small detail you can, so don't expect it to be easy, and the later levels might take hours or a day to finish without saving. Also, the music is CD quality, better than on the PC, while the FMVs are completely identical.
There's also Warcraft 2 and Z if you like RTS games, I think one or the other may even work with the mouse, but don't take my word for it.
Transport Tycoon had a Japanese only port on the Saturn. I never played it, but other than running in low resolution compared to the PC one, it looks like it is fine... missing one or two of the music tracks for sure though! But I don't know why you'd want to play that over OpenTTD on the PC.

I've always thought of Iron Storm as management in addition to strategy. Lots of unit types have branching paths in which you can choose to upgrade.

Romancing of the 3 Kingdoms IV is a strategy game where you have to manage your armies and generals. I had a quick go a couple of weeks ago, runs smoothly but I need a walk through to get me started.
