I got a copy of this today, and I can't get it to play. It locks up at the "Loading" screen on the cart menu.
Burning Rangers was another problematic title but the XYZ+Start trick worked fine on it. For this one, it's not working, and I'm not sure why. My other Japanese games boot even without the button mashing.
Is there some extra protection I'm facing here, or is it time to get a mod chip?

Hey Falcon,
Are you using the Gameshark or the Action Replay? Also, do you have the guns plugged in when you boot it up? I know for me using the AR and action replay I needed to input the code for the game, and cannot get it to load unless I only have a controller in port 1. After getting the game to boot I plug in my Sega Stunners.

GameShark, guns not plugged in, only one controller in port one. It's firmware 1.9.1 which is meant to auto-boot imports, but it doesn't work with HotD nor does the button trick work.
I've finally just taken the GS out of the console entirely with plans to get an Action Replay. If that doesn't fix it, I'll have to look into a region free BIOS, I suppose.

The action replay does work. But if I recall correctly I had to enter the Master Code and input the game into the cartridge (it wasn't there by default). Easy to do since you do it directly from the Saturn interface. Does the Gameshark have master codes and a games list as well? I have never used one so I don't know about the interface.

It's basically an AR knockoff but I've never heard of any master code. I'll have to look into it.
EDIT: found them, punched them in, still no dice.

Did you get the code for the JPN version?
I didn't know that there was a different code for each region of the game and entered the NTSC code when I had a JPN copy. Once I put in the JPN code it worked perfect.

It said it was the code for the JPN version. I'll check again.

Hopefully it works man! I remember having trouble with getting it to work the first time. Does the gameshark auto generate the code when you start to input that? I know my AR did, and it changed the JPN code to the US one... Had to renter everything to make it work.

Okay, I've tried every code I can find and it's just not working. Disc is clean and from a reputable seller as well.

Id get an Action Replay anyway for the long run. Its most reliable option for imports when all else fails.

I'm with Derek. You may need to get an action replay. Which I think is worth it in the long run. Sorry I wasn't that helpful falcon

Yeah, that's my plan. Play-Asia still sells NOS units so I'll grab one from them.
