Hey guys, I'm sort of brand new to the world of Sega. I grew up on Nintendo and then moved over to the Sony line when the PS1 came out. But the last two years or so I've got right into retro collecting, ignoring the Wii U, I've now got everything that Nintendo have made, and a decent selection of games. Built a nice little GameBoy/GBA collection in the last couple of months. I have all the Playstation line, with a pile of PS2 games that's taller than me.. But recently I've got into Sega! I picked up a Unit only MD2 a week or two ago, and got lost in it playing Sonic 2 I've also now got a Dreamcast kicking around that I've played a little bit. And yesterday, I picked up a bargain of a Saturn - should be with me in a couple of days. So far, I'll only have one game, picked up a copy of Die Hard Trilogy for the Saturn, again should be with me about the same time the Saturn turns up. So I'm here as I begin my fledgling Sega collection, looking for advice on good games to play to get started on So, hello guys! Here's a few photos from a couple of months back that show some of the bits I've been building up from the boot sales and charity shops etc. goo.gl/photos/kZuqumwqa98dMcBx9

Welcome to the Sega Saturn! It´s pretty great. I started within the last year too. It´s not the best time to start collecting for the Saturn, due to the silly prices, but DAMN... it is one fine console.
I´ve not played Die Hard Trilogy (I need to pick up a new CRT anyway for the shooty bits) but the Die Hard Arcade game is fantastic, so I recommend that if you are a fan of the license.

I'll have a look at the Arcade game I bought DH Trilogy just so I had a game for a test run, and I found it for a decent price.. Paid £20 + postage for my console, and £5 for the game. I wanted Sonic Jam as my starter game, but looked to be hovering around £25 on eBay.. And yeh, I noticed when on ebay yesterday that the games all seem to be pretty highly priced. Seems to be the way of it in retro collecting at the minute, PS1, SNES and Gamecube are all pretty pricey at the moment too. But sometimes that helps when you find a gem at a carboot sale or charity shop

Have a look at www.segasaturn.co.uk/beta/news/top-20-sega-saturn-games/If you're not going to play burned or Japanese games yet, some very good games that are still cheap, under £10 for a boxed title (might have to shop around): Sega Rally Daytona USA or CCE Virtua Fighter 2 Exhumed Athlete Kings Command and Conquer Last Bronx Sega Ages Tomb Raider Steep Slope Sliders Virtua Cop 2 Duke Nukem There are also plenty of threads with recommendations around the forum.

Welcome to the forums. The Saturn is rich with many diverse games. Here are some Saturn exclusives worth playing.
Gungriffin Dark Savior Nights Into Dreams Panzer Dragoon 1 or 2 ClockWork Knight 1 or 2 Fighter Megamix Ghen War Sega World Wide Soccer 98 Virtual On Baku Baku Animal
If your pockets are a little deeper, you might wanna check out:
Enemy Zero, Guardian Heroes, Keio 2 Flying Squadron, Shinning The Holy Ark & Saturn Bomberman
I'd personally avoid most 3D games that saw a release on PS1 since you also have that console. i.e Die Hard Trilogy is 100xs better on PS1. There are some exceptions to this rule of course i.e anything by Labotomy.

Thanks guys.
I was watching PS1 comparisons of DH Trilogy on youtube yesterday - seems like the shadows/transparency is where the PS1 comes ahead. From what I read it seems to boil down to "saturn better at 2D, PS1 better at 3D"

From what I read it seems to boil down to "saturn better at 2D, PS1 better at 3D" Yes but with plenty of exceptions! PS1 has some great 2D games like Abe's Odyssey and Heart of Darkness, and of course Saturn has plenty of excellent 3D titles as you'll be finding out in the near future. Die Hard Trilogy isn't one of them unfortunately, but it's still worth a blast. Your copy is in nice condition by the looks of it.

To be honest, DHT looks alright so you should have some fun. A mixed bag, perhaps, but should be enjoyable. The DH1 part looks decent. I definitely recommend picking up some of the cheaper games though to begin with, to give you an excuse to play your Saturn
