Haven't played Duke Nukem, so couldn't say. The fact is had Netlink co-op is ridiculously cool.Definitely something that factored into my vote. It was such a cool feature and even though Netlink only got 5 games, they still did an FPS which is a genre built for online gaming. My experiences playing Duke Matches and some co-op over Netlink are some of my favorite on the Saturn.

This poll really suprised me, I actually thought Duke Nukem 3D was going to win. Even though I'm preferring Quake at the moment, I'm actually glad Exhumed/Powerslave won or is winning shall I say. Even though I voted for Duke Nukem and love Quake Saturn to death, Powerslave deserves the peoples vote in this poll. It does everything right. Far ahead of its time. I maintain that had it been on PC in the Slavedriver form it would be talked about today with the all time greats such as Duke Nukem, Quake, Doom, Shadow Warrior, Blood, Half Life etc. Had Duke Nukem and Quake not had such strong nostalgia for me, Id have easily gone Powerslave with my vote. It was a game that I wanted quite a bit back then but could not find it anywhere so I settled for Alien Trilogy which I also love. So I had the poor mans Lobotomy Trilogy growing up with Alien as the placeholder. But those 4 games are gold for FPS fans that had a Saturn. All 4 are great. Its too bad Doom didn't run proper or that would be right there. Hexen absolutely runs good but that one never clicked with me as much as the others. Congo is a guilty pleasure #5 for me The fact that its essentially a Saturn-first title, a Saturn first FPS with tons of depth, secrets and great gameplay. Its incredible to think about that. And it was released in 1996, not like in 1998 or something. It was also released 6 months before the PS1 "port" so again it should get the distinction as a Saturn title rather than a multiplat IMO. Also I just love the NA Saturn and PC boxart. Its captures the actual gameplay perfectly with hand drawn artwork. I wish the damned US PC Big Box version wasn't so insanely rare, just an awesome shelf piece.

Yes it is, but what isn't cool is fucking autocorrect changing correctly spelt words for no reason. Why did it need changing to is? Ugh.

Exhumed appears to have extended its lead by some margin. Here I was thinking this race would be a close. I was so wrong lol

Exhumed appears to have extended its lead by some margin. Here I was thinking this race would be a close. I was so wrong lol There really is no wrong answer here. Powerslave getting the vote is proper out of respect for Lobotomys true original magnum opus that was best on the Saturn. The others are fantastic too. You should have put a 4th option: "Can't decide, 3 way tie"

Just come across this thread, which is interesting as I have been playing my original Saturn games I had in the 90s through again. I’ve been going through in alphabetical order and making sure I spent at least an hour each one, even something as bad as Crimewave.
I’ve just got up to Q. Now I was disappointed when I revisited Duke Nukem. The controls by modern day standards seemed sluggish meaning the game just wasn’t fun to play. And it looks rough as hell. Exhumed was better but, like I thought 25 years ago, it just seemed to start a bit slow and boring. I know it gets better from when I completed it before, but it’s quite a while before you really get into it.
Quake was always my favourite of the three but I wasn’t really looking forward to seeing how much it had aged. I shouldn’t have worried it. The darkness of the game seems to hide most of the roughness of the textures which Duke has, and it plays as well as Exhumed. But the real beauty of the game is in the game atmosphere, the learning curve and the level design. I’m about 8 levels in and the way it introduces a new weapon or a new enemy each stage and keeps you progressing deeper into the game at a much faster rate than Exhumed, whilst the general locations and scenery are much more to my taste in Quake than the other two.
In my opinion it’s hands down the most enjoyable of the three. I’ve now decided to reset the difficulty to easy (because it’s also pretty tough) and complete the whole thing through. Another vote for Quake here. I’ll probably look at trying the PS4 version when I’m done.

I’ve never been a fan of the sprite-based FPS games like Doom, Exhumed, Alien Trilogy and Duke 3D, the up close sprites just look and move horrendously. Though I do understand their use due to the polygon limitations on mid-90s PCs.
Other than the frame rate being pretty bad in parts Quake on Saturn is very impressive.

For me Duke Nukem 3D
Quake is technically advanced for the Sega Saturn for sure but its easily the worst playing amongst Quake ports and FPS games on the Sega Saturn with the notable exception of Doom.
People love exhumed for being a 3D Metroid vania style game but personally thats the reason I couldn't get into it back then and the same reason I can't get into it now either. Plus even the game Metroid Prime that arguably refined the genre is something I'm not really into.
Duke Nukem 3D on the Sega Saturn is in full 3D and plays great it's worth playing this port even if you prefer the PC original. We didn't get a good port of Doom but Duke 3D the arguably better game we did get a great port of and I would say its the best FPS/ Doom clone on the console.
My choice is one made as someone who is not really into FPS games

Almost any FPS games are a pain in the a** on 5th generation hardware. The Halo control scheme is just too damn perfect. For some reason I can even re-acclimate to tank controls on old games, but old FPS controls where you have to use the shoulder buttons to turn or strafe just drives me insane.
