The final poll this week is a nice and easy 2 way duel. Dark Savior or Story of Thor 2/Legend of Oasis: Which will it be? Pick one and tell us why in the comments. DARK SAVIORSTORY OF THOR 2/LEGEND OF OASIS

Dark Savior. No question about it. The puzzles were ridiculously annoying. Anyone remember the mine cart level? It was so cheap. They'd have the camera pointed in such a way you wouldn't be able to react to the jumps. As I've said before, I'm a sucker for 2d sprite on a 3d background, along with bright colors, which this game nailed. Oh, and the hair. Look at that fine mullet. Even if it was released in the 90's this is pure 1980's styled futurism. I also absolutely loved the soundtrack. You know, I don't know if you can call it a good game. I typically say Dark Savior is a guilty pleasure, or point to it, to show I have bad taste in games from time to time, but I certainly have a soft spot for it.

I HATE, HATE the mine cart level. I spent the longest on that section than any part of the game. In the end I had to plug in an autofire pad just to access slow mode to complete that section. Great game. Capturing your oppononets after battle and using them in the next has never felt more rewarding. I managed to complete all paralells apart from Paralell 5. Just getting access to paralell 5 seemed an impossible task for me so I left it for awhile. Still can't decide which game I prefer though.

Having played Both i must say i prefer dark savior.
I do love how story of thor looks, but it gets annoying after a while. I feel like the game would be better if it was a little bit straightforward

Two great lesser known RPGs that might not be tripple A titles, but are worth playing.
I love the hand-drawn sprites of Story of Thor 2 (whoever thought this was a better title than Legend of Oasis should be shot). The puzzles are very cunning and I spent a lot of time consulting FAQs to get as far as I did through this. The weapons and magic based gameplay is really enjoyable. But the story is almost non-existent and the soundtrack is average at best. It's also easy to get stuck with the really obtuse clues. Still, I enjoyed it and definitely want to go back and finish it.
I really enjoyed Dark Saviour back in the early 2000s. These days, the gameplay, especially the fights, feels a bit clunky, but it's still highly enjoyable. The story is decent and the option of the 5 parallels is awesome even if I've only been able to manage two of three of them so far (I can't beat the time limit to get some of the harder parallels. The graphics are great too and the puzzles are interesting, but, again, the soundtrack is mostly average. Still, it's the game I played the most of these two, so it's going to get my vote, but only just.

I played alot more of Story of Thor 2 tonight as I wanted to give it a fair crack before I made my decision as I hadn't played it in awhile. I forgotten how beautiful the game is visually and how fluid the gameplay is. Some of the small puzzles did cause me headaches though. A very enjoyable experience but not enough to top Dark Savior. Different paralells aside, I find Dark Savior storywise more engaging than Story of Thor. So my vote goes to Dark Savior.
I agree, Legend of Oasis was a much better title.

I can't believe how hard it is to find PAL DS these days. It can still be had for reasonable prices if you are patient, but more and more sellers are asking for exhorborant prices.

Well, to be fair, the game is slightly rare so it kinda makes sense. Story of thor is still more expensive though. Even so, you can get a complete copy of DS for 50£. Don't really think it's that expensive considering the game's uniqueness. However, i did start collecting a short while ago so i'm used to the current prices.

Had to go with DS as it's the only one of these I've played. It still looks pretty good through the OSSC. It's one of the few games I still had from when I originally put the Saturn into storage (I actually thought at one point I'd thrown the Saturn out as I'd remembered it as being faulty... thankfully It turns out I hadn't and my lovely VA0 board Saturn still works )

Has anyone managed to access parallel 5 on Dark Savior? It almost seems impossible to win that many fights with the same energy bar.

Hmm, I think I only thought there were 4 parallels. Just watched the 5th on youtube, that's good enough for me. Dark Savior's combat system was quite simplistic and felt incomplete. Just so long as you get the timing down right and forward-hit them as they get back up, enemies aren't allowed to fight back.

Yeah I applied the exact same method as you described and you're right it is quite easy to master. The only problem is there are over 8 battles one after the other and it gets very hard to keep focused on the same method. Plus some enemies have very confusing projectiles to try and avoid. After the 6th battle I thought that might be it and Parallel 5 might begin but nope there was another 3 battles after that and who knows how many more after that. In the end I just gave up.

It's not worth posting a new topic for this, so I'll just ask here.
I'm playing Story of Thor 2 at the moment (it's so fucking good) and I've just got Brass. I found a thing that told me that one of my cubes was in the Earth Forest and the other was in a mystic realm (?). I know EXACTLY where in the earth forest the white chest is, but I have no idea how to get to it.
There;s a little island surrounded by nothingness. I've tried running and jumping, but the island is elevated so I can't get the necessary height. There's a ledge higher with a rock on, but it's too low and probably too far as well.
Any ideas? I want to get it now so it's done, but perhaps there is an upgrade later I need for it.

Have you tried looking in Gamefaqs? www.gamefaqs.com/saturn/197768-the-legend-of-oasis/faqs
