I have just found out about this new controller being released in June. retrofighters.com/our-collection/brawlergen-sega-genesis-mega-drive-sega-saturn-2-in-1-controller/ FEATURES:
- First controller to feature a 2-in-1 connector that is compatible with both Sega Genesis/Mega Drive and Sega Saturn
- Compatible with the original Sega Genesis/Mega Drive and Sega Saturn, as well as most third-party systems
- Ergonomic and comfortable modern design
- High Quality and responsive D-pad
- Comfortable and responsive analog stick – compatible with Sega Saturn and Genesis/Mega Drive games
- Repositioned Mode button – compatible with 6 button and 3 button games, Genesis/Mega Drive games
- Extra long 10′ cord
Price - $39.99 It isn't beautiful but the company has apparently made decent N64 controllers and the dual compatibility, analogue stick and 10ft lead has me tempted.

I hate being this cynical but I'm really trying to see the point. 40 bucks?

I hate being this cynical but I'm really trying to see the point. 40 bucks? When I first saw it I thought it looked like a load of wank, but then I thought in certain cases it might be worth it. I need a new 6 button megadrive controller and another saturn controller and I also don't have a 3d pad, in that case I could buy this instead of 3 seperate second hand pads. Then it's $40 vs around £80. I suppose that is a very specific set of circumstances though.

Fair point. I have a box of pads for my Saturns from back in the day, I can't imagine buying more unless they were wireless or something different. Having said this, I realise from the photo that the analog stick is better positioned than the official 3d pad.
My point is that if you're going to bring new Saturn hardware to the table, I'm not sure a controller is the most exciting item.

I don't mind the look of it, but I'll wait to read some opinions on build quality.

If you could map the top triggers as X, Y or Z, it would benefit a few 32X games actually...

I emailed them to find out if the analog for the Saturn is a real analog or just the Dpad. There is no way to turn off the analog for games that don't support it ( I know there are a few that does recognize the controller if the analog is enabled). The that answered my email didn't know if the analog was simulated or not. Does anyone know any game that uses the Dpad for one purpose and the analog for another, so I can ask them to test it?

Their response doesn't fill me with confidence. Also their N64 controller seems to be failing some basic tests with regards to stick deadzone and max push... so proceed with caution.
On the other hand I can't get on with the MD d-pad at all for longer sessions so I could really use a Saturn style dpad on the Megadrive.
