I'll admit this isn't my favorite genre, but I like Galaxy Force II for its superscaler technology, and also Stellar Assault SS. great music, huge pixel explosions, and makes use of that "infinite plane" concept that panzer dragoon did. Stellar Assault SS looks so cool, but I can't justify its price tag For how much does it go these days?

Thanks for the update. Yeah, that seems a bit pricey.

I like the look of Galaxy Force II - it seems to be more approachable than Afterburner. I just can't get on with Afterburner as I don't seem to be able to keep track of any element in the game. I was always like that so it isn't just because I'm older.

A topic about flying games on Saturn and no one has mentioned NiGHTS yet?

I think the OP was going for a kinda full flight sort of thing! Though nights featured flying as a mechanic, it's all on 2D planes, so doesn't really fit the bill I reckon.

Thanks for the spot on explanation Exodus. While an amazing game in its own right, it just doesn't apply to the original intent of the topic.

Well, I managed to pick up independence day and while its a little rough around the edges, its quite good fun to play. Quite happy and wished I picked it up, back when it came out

Another who has come to see Independence is actually a decent title I was quite surprised at how nice and fun it is to play. That's what I like the most, its simple pick and play fun. Something missing, in a lot of games these days

Eaxctly Team Andromeda! most games nowadays take so long to adjust too that it ends up in me playing something else. Independence day's simplicity is its best feature, its not trying to do too much.

Plus one for Independence Day and Stellar Assault SS.
Also really enjoyed Wing Arms as a fighter game, it's short, but for an early Saturn game it gets the feel of flying a plane very well.
Darklight Conflict I think is one of the best free flying space shooters on the system, massive game as well with lots of missions.
