Hi, First time posting here. I've got two JP Saturns, one white (HST-3220) and one Victor V-Saturn (RG-JX1) and I've been thinking about putting PSUs from PAL Saturns in them. I've read in old threads on these forums that it should be possible. So, I've been trying to figure out what board (VAx) I have but the serial numbers doesn't make any sense to me. The SN on the white Saturn is 09163343 and the SN on the V-Saturn is AC7Z411696. According to old posts on these forums the SN syntax should be: But neither of my Saturns is compatible with that I think. What am I missing?

JVC units have their own, different serial number system, and the white unit has an extra character to indicate that it is a refurbished console.
They should be VA3 and VA4 inside, but I'm not 100% sure about the JVC unit, it might be VA4. Well, it shouldn't matter because both of those boards types use the same type of power supplies (Type B, the "long" board that uses GND, GND, 3.3V, 5V, 9V).
edit: if you ever open the JVC unit up, I would appreciate if you could confirm what board it uses. Note that VA3 is labelled VA SD and has a 315-5914 chip as IC6, while VA4 is labelled VA SG and has a 315-5963 as IC6. IC6 is the small brick shaped chip between the mpeg cart slot and the cd ribbon connector.

Thanks. I removed the 5 case screws and opened both units and I looks like both power supplies are Type B, just as you said. :-)
I'll see if I can check the IC6 tomorrow.
