Hi - am shocked I just won X-men:Children of the Atom on Ebay, at the minimum/starting price - what with being the only bidder(!).=P £5. That's all it was. . I used to avoid X-men:Children of the Atom as I remember CVG reduced the score from 5/5 to 4/5 when they realised what a shoddy PAL conversion it was. I still only have a UK Saturn, but am thinking of getting a Modded Saturn at some point later this year, - I assume I'll be able to play it full speed with the 60Hz switch in modded Saturns? And I've another question - if I fancied Rockman X4 - would the Japanese or the North American version be best? =P I assume the American one would be in English, but I've seen the Japanese one on eBay recently, and contemplated it. =P

I'm not an expert but I don't think that running a 5OHz game to 60Hz with the switch of a modded Saturn would change anything. If it's a shoddy conversion it will stay one even if you run it to 60Hz! On top of that, by doing it, you'll often miss a part of the image (on the top and on the bottom of it mostly) and for this game (and for Marvel Superheroes too), I find it more difficult to play as some characters can jump real high or rebound everywhere real fast.
This is why I always recommand to my friends the 60Hz japanese version of a game when it comes to Fighting VS games and Shmups on Saturn !
But still, the price was really cheap! Congratulations for this purchase! It's a great deal!

I totally didn't understand it - there was 1 bid on a £7 X-men, and no bids on the £5 X-men....even though my £5 one came with instructions, box, the lot, etc. =P Cer-razy! I did notice there were about four other X-men auctions however....maybe it was 'cos there were a fair few going at once, that meant there wasn't that much competition.....

@ torrente - some 50hz games were PAL "optimised" for example VF2, Sega Rally etc playing them at 60hz does mess upi.e too fast and picture missing top/bottom but the majority well all of the 2D fighters and 2d games in general released in Europe were 50hz "un-optimized" so a 60hz switch would allow them to run full screen & full speed as nature intended , and if you import jap/us games they will revert back to the slower 50hz bordered display if theres no 60hz switch present on any european console.

There are a lot of games that are full-speed but not full-screen.
The PAL versions of Street Fighter Alpha, Street Fighter Alpha 2, Nights are examples of this.
So while running them in 60Hz eliminated the borders it throws them into a state of buggery and occasionally causes them to mess up really bad (some people have pretty bad issues trying to play PAL Nights in 60Hz).

OK thanks for the info. I surely didn't know those technical stuff. I guess I always played optimised games when I intended to do this switch-trick 'cause when I tried Guardian Heroes, X-Men, Marvel Superheroes or SF Alpha 2, it was so awful... I preferred to warn ajmetz.

X-Men vs Street Fighter and Capcom Gen 2 are my latest purchases. Looking forward to lots of wailing and gnashing of teeth when Ghouls and Ghosts arrives.
The Japanese version of Guardian Heroes is about on the Ebay for a pretty good price. Does anyone know if its playable for someone with no Japanese skills?

Probably you'll just miss the plot, and if there will be some problems with controls there are always faqs.

I have no problems playing the Japanese version of Guardian Heroes. The plot is basically irrelevant in a game like this anyway. Other than the text displaying the player stats (which is easily guessed) there is little text you need to read anyway. Just picked up a copy of Duke Nukem3D for 99p

You can get Burning Rangers on ebay for about 25 pounds or even less if you're lucky

In France (and on eBay.fr) you couldn't, 40€ is a minimum... and that's if you're lucky too.

Then search on ebay.co.uk, I just looked at completed listings from past 2 weeks, 3 or 4 BR copies went for less than 30 quids.

Yeah I will, then ... but I'm afraid of P&P prices to France which are often huge
