Hi folks, New user so sorry if i break any posting norms... anyhow,I just opened my pal Saturn to find that its a va13 board. I want to mod it with a 50/60hz switch since I use a action replay cart to play imports and save/RAM. How to mod Sega Saturn VA13 PAL 50/60hz Switch: I assume you have a region free console with the ram cartridge or other methods, and only use RGB . I did this mod on my own console. I hope this helps other people. You just need to remove the component connecting jp2 to the pad to the right and connect your 3 prong switch accordingly to the 3 pads I talk about. VA13 models are the easiest to mod, after the models with the pads by the battery. Images: Red and Black, jp2 jp1, are the switch side prongs. the grey/yellow is connected to the middle prong.

VA13 PAL uses the newer PLL chip which is not connected to JP1/2, so I think you can get away without cutting any traces. Composite and S-Video output might not display color, but I'm honestly not at all sure because I only use RGB which will be unaffected and work fine regardless. If you are adamant about having composite video you can still cut whatever trace leads to pin 7 of the video encoder, and then ground it separately so it always outputs PAL (or PAL60).

OK. So what do i have to solder then? same spots as va9, just no trace cutting? dont need to remove any components like the resistor at jp2? I just want RGB with a 50/60hz switch zyrobs

I don't know what guide you are referring to, but yeah, you should only need to remove the jumper in jp1/2 and replace it with your switch.
