Hello! I'm new here and I recently picked up a Sega Saturn after learning about being able to burn my games to the console and play them using Pseudo Saturn. However, I have been having some problems with properly burning games onto discs.
What I have:
-Japanese Sega Saturn Model HST-3200
-Pseudo Saturn Kai Lite V6.483 4 in 1 Cartridge (Black cartridge/label)
-Windows 10
-Internal CD/DVD burner that supports write speeds as low as 10x
-ImgBurn
-Satakore SRP v3.0 Gold
-Maxell CD-Rs
-BIN/CUE Saturn ROMs
I can confirm that the Pseudo Saturn Kai cartridge works fine, same goes for the console. Both read official discs without any problems. (those in question being Off-World Interceptor Extreme and J. League Sakatsuku 2). The game I have picked as my "tester" was Daytona USA (US version). I've tried multiple methods of writing the files to the discs but nothing seemed to work. I wrote the CUE files to the disc, that didn't work. I used Satakore SRP 3.0 Gold v3.0 to change the region to JP, thinking it might've been a region locking issue, that didn't work either. After doing some more research, I read that ImgBurn is not the best for burning Saturn games, and some sources claimed one has to take extra steps, like having to use a HASH file value checker to check if the image is corrupted. So I know I'm not doing this right at all, and I might need to use something other than ImgBurn, such as CloneCD or Alcohol 120%.
As for the choice of discs, I have Maxell CD-Rs. I've burned my entire collection of 3DO games with these discs, since the quality of them is good for what money I have. I understand Saturn games are more complex than 3DO games, the point is that these discs have served me well. I know the JVC Taiyo-Yuden discs are superior, but I didn't have the money for them at the time. I am hoping these Maxell discs work for Saturn games, but I won't know for sure until I figure out the correct way to burn the files in the first place! lmao
I never expected any of this to be so convoluted! All of the research I've done thus far has led me to be more confused than ever! If anyone out there can guide me clearly down the right path, I would REALLY appreciate it! There are some gems on the Saturn that have really peaked my interest, and let's face it, the official discs aren't getting cheaper anytime soon, so I am willing to take the time to burn the games instead of paying hundreds for a single game.
Thank you!
