FWIW here's the Saturn mod chip I found in on eof my drawer... ^ ^; No idea and can't recall where I get these from... Just curious that it has double sockets at each side whereas other mod chip usually has one at each side? someone suggested that this could be the elusive universal(?) design but I wouldn't know for sure...

Yeah these chips will work with either the MK1 or MK2 Saturns. There are other versions of this style chip out there as well. Here's one I've got:

Yeah I got a pair of those myself.
I got them back in 2000, off of some seller on usenet IIRC.

The Saturn in my pic came premodded, from ebay about 4 years ago now. No idea of its original source. My white Saturn has a no-solder style modchip in it. Sweet chip, but it only works with the MK2s.

Sweet! I've gotta get myself some of these. I take it they're rare to come by now? I can only find the one on RacketBoy's site now.

These 20-21pin combination chips in particular are pretty much impossible to come by now. I haven't seen one for sale for... well, a good 6-7 years. The newer chips, however, can still be had these days from racketboy, etc. But the chips you can get these days are only designed for the newer round button models (and a small batch of oval button units with newer internals), so the only way to mod older units these days is to mod the mod board itself a bit by cutting & re-routing a couple traces on the board.
