That's definitely a good idea. I'd also try moving your AR slightly to the left or right as you'll probably have noticed there is a lot of play in either direction - it isn't exactly a snug fit that's for sure.

I'm only suggesting this because I've experienced similar problems in the past.

well after cleaning both the cart slot and the cart itself, and numerous, numerous tries i'm pretty much starting to believe the cart slot on this thing is fucked all to hell. i'm going to keep trying, but i may have to spring for the mod chip :/

Here's another question that I'd like an answer to: does anyone know where I could find codes to use with this? I remember coming across one site once, and it had a good number of codes, including some item modifiers for Resident Evil that allowed you to put the BETA items in your inventory. Silly me, though, I forgot where the site was. Either it was taken down or I'm inept. Anyone know a good site for Saturn Action Replay codes?

The modchip doesn't defeat region protection, that's a separate mod.

Is it possible for PAR cards to die out of nowhere? The one I have stopped working, and took a ton of my saves with it... even some of the ones I had in the internal memory, when I tried copying them over while the cart could boot itself but not games.

About the only strange thing I did was switching the console on/off a bunch of times when I was testing cables. Then, first it hanged on the title screen. Then it booted an import game fine, but in-game I realized that my save was gone. I went back to the AR memory manager, and noticed that all my saves on the cart were now gone.
I copied the saves I still had in the internal memory back to the cart, and tried booting a game, but it hanged up on the loading screen.

After that, the console did not recognize the card at all. The AR menu never comes up. I've yet to try a 4m game to see if it works as ext-ram, but I'm more concerned about the lack of carts to save my games to, and to transfer them between my other machines.

On top of that, it seems that one of my saves from the internal memory has been gone as well. I've no idea why. It was still there when I tried copying it back to the AR.


And it's definitely not the cart slot at blame here, since none of my other machines can boot the cart.

So how rare are the black Action Replay 4Ms? Robweb is about the only place I've ever seen one.

I used to do this all the time. I had to in the end.

My import games wouldn't start with it in. It would load at first but then give me a blank screen. After a few days or weeks of trying, I figured out that if I removed the cart at the right moment the game would load up ok.

I guess doing that knackered my cart though, as all my multiple save from SF3 ended up becoming the same save.

My PAL saturn recognises my 4MB RAM cart, but my Japanese white saturn took ages to make it work. Now it's in and works ok, im NEVER going to move it!

I almost thought the port on my white saturn was broken.
