I got my Saturn unplugged for some time (focused on PS2) and wanted to bring it back today. I didn't feel like messing with cables too much so I just plugged Saturn with my PS2s power cable, pressed the power button and my Saturn just fried I don't know what to think, it doesn't matter which power cable I use since they're all universal, right? Or am I a total idiot? I'm afraid to turn my PS2 on... Sonix's Saturn 1999(?)-2009 R.I.P.I'll buy a new one but this one always worked like a charm, I thought it'll never brake, please tell me it's not my fault EDIT: Well, it doesn't seems to be totally dead... I remembered that it's the same cable I already used for both... also, I unscrewed the top and looked inside the Sat and I can't really tell what exactly has broken. What should I do? EDIT 2: Fixed, it's working fine again

I told my brother about it and he thinks it was one of the capacitors (I didn't thought about that). We'll check again today and see if nothing else is wrong, after all replacing capacitors shouldn't be much of a problem...

It will be on the power board to the left hand side, don't bother yanking the motherboard out.

Hardly anything on power board seems broken... one diode looks like a little burned but that's it... I'll post pics soon , maybe you'll help me with identifying what needs to be replaced.

Okay, we found out what went wrong- the transistor (TOP202YAI) blew off, probably because the ceramic condensator (CS222M) near the power button wasn't soldered. Other than that everything looks fine, even the fuse is in one piece... should I look for something else or will the replacement be enough? I'll try to get those parts next week.

Sorry for bumping such an old thread, but I think I'm experiencing the exact same problem with my PAL MK2. It works fine with another PSU and the glass fuse is still intact. I couldn't see anything unusual about the PSU at first, but when comparing it to a working PSU I spotted this: - Do I only have to replace the TOP202YAI, or could the "small brown thing" closest to the chip be damaged as well? If so, how do I find out if it's still working? - TOP202YAI seems to be expensive, discontinued and hard to come by, can I replace it with something else that's cheaper and easy to find on eBay with international shipping? Would something like TOP224YN work? I've seen those for $7 for 2 pcs incl. shipping. I've got zero experience with these kind of things, so any help is really appreciated.
