As I mentioned in another post, I am on strike from playing my RPG'S until I can find a Saturn Floppy Disk Drive. Does anyone know where I can get one? I've exhausted every Saturn shop links I know.
Thanks

I don't see any online at all either.
They're quite an obscurity. Just keep looking and one will eventually pop up.

None of the RPGs support direct FDD saving, so you'd still have to save to the internal or cart first anyways... As for the hardware itself, it's part of the "weird collector's only" niche. They are rare, but few people actually really want them. Therefore prices are all over the place. Last August I found one fully boxed for 6,000yen, but I passed as it would just sit under the TV doing nothing really. Last time I was at the store it was gone. Typical price is about 10,000-15,000yen based on condition. Seems like the usual shops always have at least one in stock. Kind of thing that people buy, realize it just isn't worth it and sell back often.

Well that's fine saving to the internal memory first at least you'll know it will not decide to breakdown for two days and loose all your save files which is what happened with my 4in1 cart. Although it recovered after two days, I can never get my Grandia save files back again and I was near the end of completing the first disc.
I guess I'll keep looking for the Floppy Disk Drive

Yeah sych I know what you mean as my AR 4 in 1 cart has been giving me issues with my save files and some of them being lost. Maybe getting a floppy disk drive would be beneficial for me. They seem like a pretty elusive piece of hardware now as no shops seem to carry it when I search on google. However here is one on ebay: The buy it now price is very high but seller accepts best offer: cgi.ebay.com/150433553039

The BIN price for that drive is ridiculous. It's not even worth £100 without the box and instructions IMO.

Well I made a shocking discovery.
I've mentioned before in another lost thread that the Saturn Floppy Drive can write up to 11392 blocks to one disc. In comparison the system internal memory holds 462 blocks of data and a memory cartridge holds 7984 blocks of memory.
...well not knowing Japanese, I missed a hidden feature.
Turns out, those 11392 blocks on a disk... was just on one side. It lets you also write to the other side of the disk, totalling up to 22784 blocks of memory a disk.
Not only do I never need a memory cartridge ever again, but I just decided to make it my goal to download every Saturn game and see if I can fit one save game from EVERY game onto one disk. lol
Awesome.

Do Hexen & Madden/sports games last. Hexen uses close to half a memory card iirc.

Whoa. Crazy! Actually, it'd be neat to make a huge list for the site, stating how many blocks every game uses. Who wants to contribute? Even if Mick has no time to throw something together I'd be willing to do it for him.
