This has been bothering me for a while now. It seems like every system I hook up to any of my TVs (all three of mine), the picture is slightly pushed to the right. This includes the Saturn, PC Engine, Neo Geo, Nintendo 64, PlayStation 2... everything! It's even more annoying that it happens tons on one of my arcade games to the point that you can't even see any of the statistics for player 2 on the side. Even when I TV capture, the image in all my videos are slightly pushed to the right and I'm missing the rightmost pixels. What exactly causes this, and what can I do to fix it? EDIT: Example: www.youtube.com/watch?v=vlPwUOWTSJoShip select screen is missing right side of the border. "Press Start" on player 2's side is cut off.

Normal behavior, most CRT TVs have a left or right bias to one side - you can usually adjust it to be perfectly spot on center in the service menu - HOWEVER - some TVs don't allow you to set it individually for each input, and from experience the off-center image is usually exaggerated more on RGB input than other inputs on a lot of TVs.
Some of them may let you set it different for the different modes.
Occasionally though you get TVs where, for some reason, not only does the RGB mode seem to over-ride the color/contrast/brightness controlls but also overrides everything else as well.
I once had a peculiar Sharp TV... that was very happy to allow you to control the saturation and contrast on the RGB input, but if you tried to center the image? Fuk u go suk a dik was about as good as it got.
As for the Capture card... buy one that costs more than 1$ on ebay next time *-)

Aye.
I tried looking for a service manual for my Sony WEGA KV-20FS120 TV but couldn't find any instructions on how to adjust the image.
And yea my EasyCAP USB device seems to do this too. Can't find any options to change this.

Got the same issue on my Saturn TV, not game breaking in any way but just annoying as hell. It's one of those TVs where you can't adjust the image, argh...But i will just have to live thru it until i get a bigger appartment so i can fit one of my bigger and better CRT TVs.

Well I found a solution. www.scribd.com/doc/2913233/SONY-KV20FS120-Chasis-BA6I need to access a secret menu where I can change the X and Y position. Unfortunately it requires the Remote Control... which didn't come with my TV. :S Looks like I'm running to Dollarama tomorrow to grab a generic universal remote!

I always thought this was an issue with Scart RGB connection as I always had this problem with the older CRT screens..
The LCD ones you can adjust the centering but they don't display the older consoles well unless its hooked up to another system like; pc engine> hooked up to >dvd recorder > hooked up to >LCD TV

lol my pc engine doesn't have a stable image on lcd tv... the image goes weird every few minutes which really bugs me.. I find that to stabilise it I have to hook it to a video recorder or dvd recorder hooked up to the tv

Weird... Anyways, I bought the remote today and was able to access the super secret service menu! Before my games wouldn't display the far right (Bubble Bobble III wouldn't show any of Player 2's stats AND the game screen was slightly cut off!!) but after hours of painful fooling around with settings with some daring trial and error, I got the image perfectly centered on my screen now! It's so awesome... Thanks Chizzles/Dixosaurus for the heads up on the secret Service Menu. Though my Taito F3, is even more to the right than any of my other systems, I do have to change it slightly back to the right for a center image again when I plug in another console/board, every single time. But eh. The effort will be worth it. Also, I am SO grateful that these arcade boards come with a friggin' crosshatch test screen for centering. It made it so much easier!

I have this problem too.
On CRT and flat screen tv's. It's been a pain in my arse for a long time...
Always wanted to know how to do it. I don't know of any options to change the centering image on my tv for the satur nthough... its odd cus it cus it with the saturn but when i use a dvd player the image is centered. I always thought it was a part of the PAL machines like with the black borders.
Any more help on this would be awesome id love to experience games properly.

Look for a service manual (not instruction manual) for your TV model on Google. It should tell you how but it is dangerous at the same time and you can screw up your TV.
But once you know what you're doing, it's no sweat.

one thing i also noticed,
last night i played sega rally and the screen is fine its full and no problem, when i played exhumed the screen is to the right somewhat.
Could it be something to do with the resolution of games? I don't understand why one game would be fine and another wouldn't hmm.
