Thankfully I have two. I'm a noob, don't know which ones MKI and MKII, but the one that doesnt work has angular buttons and an extra light that says access or something.
Well anyway, the Saturn with the angular buttons, when turned out, shows only a black screen, does not boot into the OS and the extra light blinks red.
Any idea what went wrong?
Not too worried as I got this console for free and the other ones my baby, but my baby has been freezing lately so itd be nice to have a backup and perhaps one to mod.

The angular button and access light one is Model 1.
I had this happen once too. I removed the clock battery and turned it on, and it worked. But I lost all my save games, obviously.
If you give that a try, hopefully you got a backup. :S Maybe wait for someone else's input first.

Use Memory Cart's Yart. I've had two nearly full memory carts completely erased on their own within a year. No thank you! (I keep kicking or twatting whatever the system sits on when I die in a shmup or something which shakes the cart out of place and I lose everything!)

This isn't aimed at the OP really but I've noticed lots of "My Saturn broke" Threads here and it makes me wonder what you guys do to them. I've had my same exact Saturn since 1996 and it's never given me any problems. I even dropped it down the Stairs once and it was fine. Seeing all these threads makes me wonder if either my Saturn is magical or something.

I remember asking the same thing to people who had Jaz drives when I worked at Iomega. They always complained that they would do a long format on it and the disk would stop working. So one day we decided to see if we could get our Jaz drive to die. We used a disk that we often played catch with too. We ran long formats on it for 8 hours AND THEN installed Quake on it and ran the program from the disk. Those are two no-nos for Jaz disks. Still it worked perfectly fine. The world may never know what people do with their hardware.
